Night Huntress, the series at a glance

The Night Huntress series is about half-vampire Cat Crawfield, a vampire slayer who’s been raised to believe that all vampires are evil until she is forced to team up with a Master vampire named Bones to stop a bigger evil. As the series progresses Cat realizes she doesn’t know as much about vampires as she thought, and that being half-vampire doesn’t mean she’s evil.  
She navigates a world of ghouls, vampires, ghosts, murderous fathers, governments agencies and a mother that harbors a hatred for all vampires, while trying to deal with her feelings and relationship with Bones and working to stay alive. The series is dark, humorous, and incredibly sexy.

The Night Huntress vampires can walk in daylight and have no aversions to the usual vampire myths of crosses, garlic, holly water or wooden stakes and ghouls look like you and me but have a diet of raw meat, you will also come across ghosts, some with powers some without, demons that can shape-shift and possess others and scary dark magic.

Jeaniene Frost has also written a spin-off to the series, Night Huntress World, which features side characters as main characters. Each book is a stand-alone and runs parallel to the main series. FDoC & EkoD falls between NH books 4 & 5.

She is contracted for two books featuring Vlad as well, the first one planned to be released in 2012. Her currents plans are to write both books back-to-back. 

Jeaniene has often said that the idea for the series first came to her in a dream. There was a man and woman arguing and she just knew that the woman was half-vampire while the man a full vampire. In her dream the man was mad at the woman for leaving him.

Coming up with who those dream figures were; why the woman left the man even when not wanting to, why they existed in the first place, became her first book, Halfway to the Grave. It took Jeaniene four months to write that first book and two years before it was even accepted by an editor.

She has also mentioned that Cat and Bones will have a HEA at the end of the series but it may also entail some stumbling blocks along the way to get to that HEA. Which, if you’ve read any of the books in the series you know that Cat & Bones road has been filled with bumps and potholes.
