Today I'd like to welcome author Suza Kates over who has a fantastic paranormal romance series, The Savannah Coven Series. Suza is joining us with a fun guest post today and an awesome giveaway, enjoy!
The questions I hear most from readers usually have to do with the creation of the Savannah Coven Series, why I chose witches, and where I get my ideas. I always take a long pause as I try to figure out what to say, because the truth is, the idea was originally just a stray thought.
I’d just finished one of my favorite trilogies for the tenth time, and was thinking how much I enjoyed stories about witches and wondering why there weren’t more out there. (This was on the paranormal upswing, just before the explosion!) I decided to write my own and intended the books to be full of magic, camaraderie, danger, and romance. This was three years ago.
9 witches
called? To Savannah
each brought their own cat?
Now I’m knee deep in the fourth book and can’t wait to tell each of the women’s stories. I’m emotionally attached to these witches. (Don’t break out the butterfly nets, please. I know they aren’t real. Or at least… I’m pretty sure.)
As for how I come up with the stories, some have been in my head since the beginning, while other details are still working themselves out. My own personal secret? I take long, hot, bubble baths in complete darkness. Without other distractions, scenes and dialogue often start pouring out. More than once I’ve left a wet trail of bubbles from the tub to the nearest writing pad, but hey, whatever works, right?
I’m already plotting my next paranormal series, and it will be a little bit darker, a little bit edgier, but I’m still going to love working on the Savannah coven. Amongst all the danger and hot guys, there’s a bond of sisterhood at the heart of the series, and for me, that was the true inspiration.
