Things that go bump in the night!
Romance writers and readers know what we are talking about when it comes to “things that go bump in the night!” This concept has many meanings for us; intensity, lust, suspense. We can go on. What is it about this line? When writing Flesh and Feathers we had a few “things that go bump in the night.” There was a scene where Azaleigh is running through the cemetery, and of course that is never a good thing. LOL. This was more of an intense moment and not the hot, lust-filled scene. But the intensity of Azaleigh becoming lost, running through the darkness, knowing that something evil was lurking in the shadows had to be one of our favorite “bump” scenes. Some of it may have been predictable but we do hope that scene held a lot of shock value for our readers to some degree. Besides the hot scenes with Gage (yum), this was one of the funniest to write. And when the danger finally rears its ugly head, it took a whole new meaning for us when we say “things that go bump.” In other stories we have read, the hot, lustful “bumps”, which are also our favorites. In Larrisa Ione’s Eternity Embraced (Demonica), we can give a perfect example: when Andrea and Kaden are locked in the dungeon, they must pretend that Kaden (who has just turned vampire) is about to kill her so that their captor will release him. The dramatic horror of where they are clashes with the intense love they have for each other. As they roll around the floor trying to pretend that Andrea has fallen prey to Kaden, the two cannot stop the feelings they have for one another. It was the one of the sexiest scenes we read! So cheers to lovers of “things that go bump in the night.”
Azaleigh's life is simple until, by chance, she meets Kale. Charming and handsome, Az is immediately drawn to him. But long kept secrets lurk in the hearts of those Az holds most dear, and dangerous plans are unfolding around her. As her life begins to crumble and Kale disappears, Gage, charismatic and striking, arrives, providing a calm port in an increasingly violent storm. But with every narrow escape from a far from human bounty hunter who's after her life, Az begins to unravel a secret with the power to change her forever. In an increasingly hostile world of Angel and Fallen, Azaleigh must navigate her own path, chose her own side, and ultimately protect her heart. Faced with two gorgeous men, an enemy she doesn’t know, and a future she cannot understand, Az must make a choice—the man she loves, or the man she cannot live without.

April Fifer grew up in a small town in Virginia, where it was common practice believing that dreams could only be found in stories. At the age of seven she was diagnosed with dyslexia. She was told that she would struggle through life and would never pick up a book to read for pleasure. Although school was hard, she was able to find her way with the help of two teachers who taught her self-discovery. Ignoring what she was taught growing up, she turned it around and found that your dreams could become stories.
