Avery Flynn
I am a fan of tattoos and have a few of my own to show for it. However, mine are hidden away where you only see them in the summer. That’s just the way I roll.
My girl Josie Winarsky from Passion Creek on the other hand has some big time tattoos. She has an infinity sign in ivy that crosses from one shoulder to the other. Then the ivy travels down her spine and ends in another infinity sign at the small of her back. She has a quote from Amelia Earhart on the inside of her wrist that reads: Adventure is worthwhile in itself. Then there is my favorite: a little princess dressed in pink complete with triangle hat slaying a much bigger dragon.
Each of those tattoos have meaning to Josie. The quote is her life’s motto. The ivy represents endurance and commitment. The princess is a reminder that she fights her own battles. As a painter, the intricacy and colors involved in these tattoos are part of her celebrating her own body as a piece of art.
That’s one of the things I really enjoyed when writing Josie, that she didn’t have many body hangups. Not that she thought her body was perfect, but that she was one hundred percent confident in her own skin. Let me tell you, I wouldn’t mind borrowing that quality myself some days.
So what do your tattoos say about you? If you don’t have one, what would you get if you were to get inked?
Uptight history professor Sam Layton may have the abs of a movie action hero, but he stoppedbelieving in the joy of adventure a long time ago. However, when a one-night stand with a tattooed bombshell leads to a treasure map for the long-buried Rebecca’s Bounty, the call to action is too strong to ignore.Watch the book trailer
All Las Vegas cocktail waitress Josie Winarsky wants to do is paint. But when she lands smack dab in the middle in a mob plot, she has to push aside her dreams to find a treasure in Dry Creek,Nebraska and save her family from harm. With Sam at her side and a Vegas loan shark on her tail, the treasure she finds turn out to be much more valuable than emeralds and rubies.

ReplyDeletethanks for a fun post and giveaway! As I'm from NE, it's amazing that there would be books set here. I gotta go check out Avery's books! Ummm...I can't get a tattoo while my mom is living cuz I promised her I wouldn't. Otherwise, I'd have to thing long and hard about something meaningful to me that I'd be ok w/ forever :)
ReplyDeleteI have a vine of flowers on my leg and only got it because I thought it was beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI do not have any tattoos, but if I got one I would have a cute little character on the inside of my arm so that I could see it. This character would have a big grin and would be giving the thumbs up sign . To me , no matter what was happening in my life, it would be saying, every thing is alright you will be OK. It would make me smile each time I looked at it.annpa@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteI´ve always wanted a tattoo or two, of a Scorpio or a Chinese Dragon (after my birth month & year) but it´s just so common nowadays, everyone has tattoos, and i just don´t want to. =/ Maybe in the future when/if it´s not as hip any longer.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway, =)
best wishes, Linda xo

ReplyDeleteChristina, never underestimate the appeal of having a little beauty in your life.
Ann, I love that idea. My favorite thing in my office right now is a Kermit the Frog lunch box for no other reason besides the fact that it makes me smile. :)
Linda, I know exactly what you mean. When we named Flynn kid No. 1 no one had her name. Now it seems every other kid has that name. Gah! Guess we're just setting the standard for cool. :)
I don't have any tattoos, but if I did I'd want something tribal & fierce. I'm a warrior at heart.
