Please give a warm welcome to romance author, Amy Andrews!
Hi and thanks for having me here, today.
As a special treat I interviewed Nate and Addie about how they met and fell in love and their plans for the future.
Nathaniel, what did you think when you first met Addie?
I thought she was this boho hippy chick. She was wearing huge,
purple-tinted sunglasses and intricately plaited hair ending in
colorful beads. I'd never seen such a completely impractical hair
style. Okay for a beach in Bali, maybe, but not so much London,
despite the glorious Indian Summer we were having. And then when she
performed that citizen's arrest and snapped those damn fluffy pink
handcuffs on me...I was so busy trying to close a deal I just didn't
have time for theatrics. I wanted to strangle her. But then part of me
wanted to do a hundred kinds of wicked to her too.
Addie, what did you think of Natahaniel when you first met him?
I thought he looked like a feudal Prince looking down his Patrician
nose upon his serfs. The sun was shining down on his hair, wisps
brushed the tops of his ears and his collar and fell across his
forehead in neat layers. He was wearing these dark sunglasses and a
blue-tooth ear piece and looked very James Bond. And those Lucifer
lips.... He was the perfect example of an evil tycoon standing in a garden - my
garden - in his Saville Row, three-piece suit and I fell in instant
lust.
Nathaniel, when did you know she was the one for you?
I think it was the afternoon she took me on the London Underground
specifically to grope me. I love her adventurous spirit and Addie made
it her mission to show me my city in a way I'd been too busy to see
before. I'll never ride the tube ever again without thinking about
that day and smiling.
Addie, when did you know he was the one for you?
At his Grandy's 80th birthday party. I'd done something rather
embarrassing the night before. You see we were pretending to be in a
relationship and his mother had put us in the same room and I woke up
and we were spooning and...well it was five am, you know? And certain
things happen to males at that hour of the morning....And I really thought he was asleep...that he wouldn't know ...I was just trying to
relieve a little itch. Anyway...he was so understanding about the
incident at the party, that it was just a weird half-asleep thing, but
when he warned me he wouldn't be as forgiving if it happened the next
morning and...I knew he knew.
And that was the moment.
Nathaniel, tell us how you proposed.
I hired a private capsule on the London Eye. Addie had done the same
thing for me a little while before and I wanted to show her how far
I'd come, how much I appreciated her hard work trying to connect with
me. I also know that the Eye is on of her favorite spots in London,
looking down on all her favorite sights. And, most importantly, I
wanted to be able to keep her there if she said no. Keep her there
until she said yes. Because she's my whole life. Luckily it didn't
come to that.
Addie, tell us about the wedding.
I'm so excited that we're getting married in the St Agnes rose garden
next Spring - back where it all began for us. If Nate hadn't been
trying to destroy it and I hadn't been trying to save it, we never
would have met! The garden will be in full bloom and my bouquet will
be full of its freshly cut blossoms. It's the perfect place for us to
start our new life, remembering to stop and smell the roses.

Real estate tycoon Nathaniel Montgomery is one deal away from making his first billion and fulfilling a promise to his dying father. Nothing will stop himfrom tearing down the decrepit St. Agnes hospital and erecting posh condos in its place. Not even the crystal-wearing, health food store owner whose publicity stunt lands him in the hospital. After her brush with death five years ago, child prodigy Addie Collins learned what’s truly important—health, happiness, and the two-hundred-year-old rose garden at St. Agnes. To make amends for the accident, she agrees to pose as Nathaniel’s girlfriend at his eccentric grandmother’s birthday party. But Addie has an ulterior motive. To repay her debt to the universe, she must show him there's more to life than making money. Nathaniel hates to lose, but as she breaks through his defenses, losing himself in Addie's arms might be exactly what this tycoon needs...
Amy Andrews never wanted to be a writer. She wanted to be a fairy then a scuba diver then Smurfette. Eventually, due to the fact that none of these were actual jobs (and no matter how hard she tried she just wasn't blue enough), she became a nurse. But through it all she was a reader. And she loved words. When she was twenty two and temporarily out of work she realised the voices in her head were actually a plot and she wrote her first romance novel. It was cold out and she discovered that writing meant she could stay in bed with her electric blanket. She has since written 28 novels for Harlequin (often in her pyjamas) and her proudest moment was winning the prestigious Australian RuBy award for the best sexy romance in 2010. She put on a frock for that occasion.
She now writes for both the Medical and RIVA/Presents lines and considers herself to be blessed.
Of course her two teenagers keep her grounded. One day she's sure they're going to admit to her being an author but she's not holding her breath.http://www.amyandrews.com.au/

Hi Hayson and thank you sooo much! You are a doll for saying how much you loved the book!
ReplyDeleteA lot of people have been asking aboute an epilogue so I thought this might give them a sneak peak :-)
Fun interview, thank you for sharing :) I laughed out loud at the part about things that happen to men in the morning. Hehe! I too wanted to be Smurfette when I grew up. My actual job isn't nearly as cool as getting paid to be Smurfette. She was awesome!!
