Please give a warm welcome to contemporary and erotic romance author, Alannah Lynne!
I’ve always found the holidays to be a lot like the “It” person in Hide and Seek: Ready or not, here they come! Unfortunately, I usually fall into the “Not” category.
I’m a terrible procrastinator and have always put things off until I can see the last individual grains of sand draining from the hour glass. Whether it be studying for tests, which meant staying up all night, cramming; or writing a book and working non-stop for the last four weeks in order to meet the deadline; or writing a blog post *looks around not-so-innocently*… I’ve always waited until the last minute.
When it comes to holiday shopping, though, it makes sense to me to wait until a few weeks before the big day for several reasons. The first being, I don’t have a clue what anyone wants until December. Secondly, Even after I’ve gotten them what they asked for, if I see something I think they need or would like, I’ll get that for them too. If I started shopping months in advance, I’d always be in shopping mode – which means I’d always be buying and would be completely broke!
My sister’s annual mission is to be finished with her shopping by Thanksgiving. I have a cousin who finished her shopping on Black Friday this year, and I have another friend who likes to have everything wrapped by Thanksgiving. I guess if I had everything wrapped and wasn’t able to buy after that day, then I might be okay. Maybe.
The truth is, I’ll never find out, because I’ll NEVER be organized enough to get my shopping finished by Thanksgiving. I feel good if I get it done by December 20th.
Right now I’m under a deadline so I basically missed Thanksgiving. CROSSING LINES (the 3rd book in the Heat Wave series, due out in January) will be to the editor by December 1st, so then, hopefully,Iwon’t have to work so much and canget into the holiday swing.
Although… I promised my readers to try and have SAVIN’ ME and LAST CALL in print by Christmas, so I should probably get on that right away! (The examples of my procrastination abound! LOL)
So what about you? When it comes to gift buying, whether for the holidays or birthdays or weddings… do you plan ahead and get it taken care of early? Or are you like me, stopping off on the way to the party/wedding to pick something up?
A big thanks to the Crystals for allowing me to visit with them and you today!! Whatever your method of attacking the madness, I hope you’re able to enjoy the holidays and the special time with friends and family!!!
(I’ll give away 2 copies of “Last Call” to commenters. And if they already have that, I’ll put them on the list and send them “Crossing Lines” as soon as it releases. )

Gavin McLeod is a man who has it all. His corporate climb has positioned him as the next CEO at Holden Enterprises. He’s financially stable, allowing him to provide for the grandfather who raised him, and his successful seduction of the sexy bartender last night proves his private life is also on fire. Until the alluring woman in his arms turns out to be a serious road-block to his future. One that could bring everything he's worked for crashing down around him.
Sunny Black has spent her entire life tending to the needs of others, caring for her younger brother since she was ten, and serving bar patrons night after night. For the first time in years, she thinks of herself and gives in to her body’s demands, taking a trip to the wild side with a customer whose raw sexuality is too strong to deny. The next morning, however, she learns that in addition to rocking her world, the stranger might cause it to crumble.
A game of sexual seduction and corporate chess ensues, with neither Gavin nor Sunny realizing the ending could come in the form of a permanent check-mate.

I used to have all my shopping done by Thanksgiving. But every time I went shopping, I'd see something and think (insert name here) would love this and buy it too. I spent WAY over my budget. Now, I leave it until the last minute so I'm not tempted to buy too much.

I am like you Alannah, lucky if I'm done shopping by Christmas. I think the biggest problem I always have is deciding what to buy everyone.
ReplyDeleteBecki - Yes!!! That's exactly what would happen to me.
ReplyDeleteMy mom used to get a jump on holiday shopping and would buy things throughout the year and then hide them in her room. One year, in July, she brought me a pair of red knee socks that she'd forgotten to give me the year before. :D
Kim - As my boys have gotten older, that's become more of a problem. And not just with them, but with all of the family. My SIL and I decided the other day that we're only shopping for the boys, and not each other. We don't really need anything and trying to figure it all out is so stressful. We're going to take the money and the four of us (me, hubs, his sister, her husband) are all going out to dinner together instead. We're always so busy, we never have time to do that, so that's going to be our gifts to each other. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm a huge procrastinator....I vow every year to get my christmas shopping done by a certain date and well 1 week before christmas i panic and then do most of my shopping. LOL
ReplyDeleteI used to have my Christmas shopping done in the Summer, but as I've gotten older, I'm done around Thanksgiving, then everything is wrapped the next week.
ReplyDeleteI am a huge procrastinator when it comes to gift shopping partly because I find it difficult to know what to buy and partly because I don't like braving the crowds. I'm so bad at christmas that we see two of our nieces on boxing day and I normally buy their presents on the way over! lol
ReplyDeleteI use to be such an earlt=y, yearlong shopper. This year, i still need to get started!!

I wait to buy gifts until after Thanksgiving because new items come out then and I love to shop online and Cyber Monday has great sales. :)
ReplyDeleteThese books sound great and now I am off to check Alyannah's web site. :)
I do have good intentions most of the time, but I am a major procrastinator. Waiting til the last minute for alot of things. Thank you for the giveaway. I have Savin Me on my Kindle & will be reading it this week.
ReplyDeleteI'm kinda weird when it comes to gift buying and will start with an idea and when I go to actually get that idea end up with something totally different in the end. It happens all the time and usually turns out better than expected.
ReplyDeleteI always shop at the last minute for christmas gifts because of money. Thanks for the giveaway. Please enter me. I would love to read your books. Tore923@aol.com
ReplyDeleteAwesome giveaway and spotlight. Thanks so much for the opportunity!
ReplyDeleteSounds fantastic! Thanks for sharing and congrats on the new release!
ReplyDeleteI often feel like I am never done. Thanks for the look

I actually start shopping really early...because I find all kings of good things on clearance, so I may have stuff stuffed in my clothes from June! And then little by little I start getting more things, but that doesn't mean that by Christmas I'm done...I'll still be picking up things up until a few days before Christmas :D

Good morning!! My internet went down yesterday and I wasn't able to respond to comments. I tried to get on last night from my cell, and that wouldn't even work! :(
ReplyDeleteBut I'm here to day and I'll get caught up with everyone as soon as I can!
Angie - Maybe we should start a support group!! LOL
Joanne - That is amazing!! I can't even imagine having everything taken care of that far in advance. I wish I could! I think I would enjoy the holidays so much more if I wasn't so stressed about making sure I had everything... and not worrying about forgetting someone! When I wait until the last minute, that becomes my big fear. :-/
Maybe you could teach a class on how to get that organized and prepared! :D
Kat - I don't like the crowds either. I don't like to shop, anyway, so it's a double-whamy of torture. Now, internet shopping? I could do that all day and have gotten to where I rely on that more and more every year.
ReplyDeleteLM - Welcome to the dark side! :D I haven't even started my list yet! I have to finish this book by this weekend, and then I'll start thinking about Christmas.
Pam - I signed up for a Black Friday-Cyber Monday newsletter, so I would know where to find all the great deals. But I was buried so far into this book, I didn't even have time to read the emails, let alone do the shopping. :/
I'm glad you liked the blurbs, and I keep forgetting to mention (this should've been in the info above with the blurb), that SAVIN' ME is FREE at all outlets!! :)
Yadkny - I can relate to that, because that's the way I write books. LOL I start with an idea and it very seldom ends up anything like I'd planned, but always better. Maybe I should try that same approach to shopping!
ReplyDeleteTore - I was in that same situation for years, and it makes the stress of the holidays so much worse. :-( I hope you see this comment so you'll know you can go to Amazon, B&N, Kobo, Smashwords, AllRomancee-books and get SAVIN' ME for FREE!!!!
Hi Carey - It's nice to meet you. Thanks for commenting. Go grab a copy of SAVIN' ME from your favorite outlet for FREE!! :)
Hi Erin - Your welcome, thanks for commenting!! Please go grab a copy of SAVIN' ME - it's FREE!!! :-)
ReplyDeleteDebby - I often feel that way too, even if I have gotten a good start. I feel that same way when I pack too, especially if I try to start laying out everything early. I always feel like I'm missing something because it's all gone too easily. LOL
Eva - You're like my mom!! Have you ever found anything the following July that you overlooked at Christmas?! LOL
The series sounds really interesting!! Thank you so much for the giveaway! :)
ReplyDeleteLove these books. So far Last Call is my favorite. But I am waiting for Crossing Lines to make final judgement.
ReplyDeleteHi Arely - You can grab SAVIN' ME for FREE from all retailers!! Thanks for commenting and good luck in the giveaway! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Trish!! I'm so glad you've enjoyed them so far... I hope you're equally pleased with Kevin and Sam!
I shop all year, so that by Christmas I am well & truly done.
ReplyDeleteLAST CALL looks fabulous.
The covers are yummy!
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to reading your books Alannah. Enjoyed the excerpts, very much. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm online shopping this year.

I'm sorry it took me so long to get back over here and respond to the last comments. I read them one afternoon, meant to reply, then someone signed me out of my computer and I promptly forgot. :(
ReplyDeleteMary - I bet by that time you're overly done!! :D
Mckay - Thank you! Tricia "Pickyme" Schmitt does my covers and I feel so blessed to be able to work with her!
Carol - Online shopping has become my specialty! :D
