My Favorite Quality in a Hero
Skin Deep’s Connor O’Reilly is one of those heroes that truly melt my heart. There’s a lot to like about him. At first, I wasn’t even sure why he had such an impact on me, just that he’s sweet, sexy, and werewolf. Those are all fantastic aspects of who he is, but what really got me going about him? I’m not going to lie. The fact he’s a werewolf added bonus points, but I absolutely love his rock-solid commitment to getting Angelique back in his life. Not only does he want her, but he wants her bad enough to put himself at risk.
*fans self* Woo, that’s hot! For someone to be that dedicated is awe-inspiring and romantic. He’s really putting himself out there for her in the attempt to win her back.
Yes, there other equally important traits required for a relationship. Maybe one of the reasons why his commitment is key to bringing them together is the fact they’re already head-over-heels in love, but Angelique’s reasoning to not put either of them in jeopardy wins out since she doesn’t realize that he’s more than capable of taking care of himself.
Thinking about this a little harder, the heroes I tend to enjoy more than others share this dedicated trait in some form or the other. For example, Pritkin from the Cassie Palmer series by Karen Chance is dedicated to Cassie. He is by her side protecting her, and teaching her to protect herself, as she fulfills her role of Pythia. I’ll be the first to admit that I have a fangirl crush on him!

Angelique had no idea her black panther tattoo would force her to abandon the love of her life—Connor O’Reilly—but she’s determined to keep him safe no matter how much it hurts. Her tattoo doubles as her feline familiar: loving, protective, dangerous, and with a life of its own. It’s also her deepest secret and draws enemies who desire its power for themselves.
Connor has no idea why Angelique left him, but he’s determined to win her back. As a werewolf, he has secrets of his own. Now his alpha is ready to force him to pair with an ex-girlfriend he can’t stand unless he can find Angelique and claim her as his mate. But even as their secrets threaten to keep them apart, hidden enemies seek to destroy their chance at love forever.

Skin Deep sounds like a great story and I'm looking forward to reading it.
ReplyDeleteI love a hero that isn't just hot but tough and "mean"/growly but hiding below is a sweet man who cares deeply for those he loves.
ReplyDeleteA hero needs to have a good dose of common sense, be loyal, have a sense of humor, and good looks certainly sweeten the package.
