In fact, one of the first decisions I made about Artificial Absolutes was that it would be about a brother-sister team (Devin and Jane Colt) who both had pre-existing significant others, precisely so I wouldn’t have to deal with romantic elements in my sci-fi adventure through space. I even tried to get rid of both significant others by having Jane’s boyfriend disappear in chapter 2 and leaving Devin’s fiancée behind when the Colts become interstellar fugitives. Other characters were kept as quick side encounters on their journey, leaving no time for any shenanigans.

I tried one and it came back with Superman, which I find kind of funny because he’s one of my favorite superheroes. That’s all fine and dandy, but it takes a bit more than that to be a good superhero. So I asked, what makes a good superhero? Is it the strength and power? Ability and skill? Morality or costume? While I love a great costume as much as the next person, I think there’s one element that makes all the best superheroes, well, the best. Humanity. It’s in the flaws and weaknesses and shortcomings they need to overcome, just like all of us every day people. Sure, not anyone can wield a flaming whip and throw fireballs, like our heroine in Scarlett Fever, but unless there’s something deeper driving that ability its just all flash.

Hello lovelies! I hope that everyone enjoyed their Valentine's Day, whether they spent it with a book boyfriend or a real life someone. Today we have a special love letter for our readers that I'm sure you'll enjoy! 

A love letter from a dark and dangerous vampire to his females in this world

It’s fantastic to be back at Reading Between the Wines for the Love Letters event, and also my Vampirerotique Winter Tour.

When I had to decide which of my sinfully sexy heroes from my Vampire Erotic Theatre romance series should pen a love letter, I immediately thought of Snow, making Payne intensely jealous as I’m actually touring to promote the series and the latest release, Bewitch, which is Payne’s book. Write a love letter? It has to be Snow, and it has to be to his fans.

I asked Snow to write the letter, and he took a little convincing before I finally got him to agree. Even Antoine prodded him about it, saying it would be good for him to connect with people outside of Vampirerotique, the theatre which has been Snow’s home for the past century, and a place he hasn’t set foot outside of in that time because his bloodlust makes him dangerous and unpredictable.

Still, I managed to get him to sit down and write, and here’s what he had to say!

One thing I love about this book is the role-reversal between the hero and heroine. Tyra is the fighter, more traditionally a male role, and she's a little more emotionally closed. Anton is the healer, the more available of the two, but he has his demons as well. As they come together and fall in love, they help each other grow. Anton becomes a little more alpha to meet Tyra where he needs to be, and Tyra learns to open herself emotionally.
