I am excited to join Blogger's Help Paws with a Cause and big thanks to Danielle and Laurie for putting this event together. So, I thought I'd share with you our furry family members...
This is Sidney (and her tongue) and she is our 8.5 year old black lab, and me & my hubs first 'child'. Though I did bring a cat or two with me when we first got together. ;) Sid is quite possibly the best dog ever. No lie. She was eight months old when I had our daughter and let me tell you, her and our son who came 2.5 years later, have put that poor dog through hell. I have seen her just lay there without making a noise, let alone a growl, while having a whisker pulled out. I would say she is incredibly well manned too but well...she is a bit gassy! lol No, but really. Whenever I hear anyone mentioning wanting a dog, and they have children, I always recommend finding some breed of lab.
Next up is our fat cat, Princess Oriana. (I wonder if anyone can guess where that name came from?) Ori for short though the hubs likes to call her Oreo, which I am sure you can see why. lol She's not all fat, though she is almost as big as our five-year-old son, she has a lot of fluff to her too. :) We adopted Ori a year and a half ago from the Lakeland SPCA and I am so glad that we did. My daughter actually picked her out after sitting in the cat room for a bit and checking out each pretty kitty personally. Ori is a total diva, as most cats are, and her princess name fits her well but she is also incredibly loving and she has a personality all her own. If I'm not in bed by 10pm, she will be in my spot waiting for me like 'Come on, it's time to lay down now!' lol She takes up as much room as one of my kids!
And next is Ash (named after Acheron), or as I like to call her, The Holy Terror. She no likey the camera's flash. lol She was a rescue that I took in when she was 4 days old and hand raised. (Someone found out that I use to work at a Veterinarian's Clinic and extorted that knowledge! lol) She is all street cat. I have never seen a cat taking a flying leap and nose dive into food like she does. You cannot turn your back for a second if you have something to eat because she will be on it. I have seen her cart off a whole sandwich in her mouth. No table or counter space is sacred either. And socks, let me tell you, the washer ain't got nothing on socks compared to this cat. She will dig in the laundry baskets searching for them and then drag them all over the house. You can often find me chasing her down in the mornings trying to retrieve the kid's socks for school. I won't even get started on my rugs and furniture...like I said, Holy Terror.
Throw in a few rabbits and those are our furry family members. :)
In honor of this event I would like to give away two books from a fabulous author who I admire. She writes fantastic romance and also has a huge heart for animals and it shows in her books. You won't read a book from Lori Foster that doesn't feature a furry character. And these books are also for a great cause, the proceeds go to a local shelter!

A message from Danielle @ Romance Book Junkies...
Hello Everyone! We have a total of 59 blogs that have gotten together to help raise money for a great cause. There are going to be some awesome prizes up for grabs for people that donate money to the cause. Here is a little about the company that we are raising the money for:
Paws With A Cause® enhances the independence and quality of life for people with disabilities nationally through custom-trained Assistance Dogs.
PAWS® increases awareness of the rights and roles of Assistance Dog teams through education and advocacy. Founded in 1979, Paws With A Cause is dedicated to helping its clients who are challenged by many disabilities, such as Cerebral Palsy, Muscular Dystrophy, Seizure Disorders, and Hearing Disorders to name just some. Each of our dogs are trained to meet the specific needs of our clients. Tasks may include opening and closing doors, picking up objects, pulling a wheelchair, turning lights on and off, and alerting a person to particular sounds like a telephone, doorbell, smoke detector and many others. Our dogs change lives by enhancing the independence of our clients. By just opening a door, a dog opens up the world for a person with a disability and your donations will go to making that happen. PAWS thanks you so much for your donation and allowing us to open more doors.
