In ABBY ROAD, burned-out rock star Abigail Kelly hasn’t gone on vacation in five years. So when she decides to take an impromptu summer vaca, these are the Must Haves for her Rock Star Florida Getaway: 


Sunglasses - Abby has never been very good at the whole “disguise” thing, so dark shades are as incognito as she goes. Does not work very well!

Earplugs – crashing with her sister and her four-year-old twin boys, Abby is going to need something to help with the zone outs, as well as day time naps—which are part of every beach vacation.

Beachy attire -Since her summer vaca was spur-of-the-moment, she didn’t really pack, so Abby has to borrow her sister’s clothes. Note to self for next time: Never travel without favorite cut-off shorts.

Cellphone charger – Abby is pretty apt at forgetting this, unless her personal assistant Molly is around to remind her. And since Max, her manager, insists on checking in every day, Abby better remember to plug in. Plus, she might figure out how to use her camera phone someday.

iPod– As an unabashed Beatles fan, Abby can never be too far from her darling lads from Liverpool.

Sweet treats – Abby is dead set on breaking her diet with a vengeance! Like her creator (me!), she loves cupcakes and dark chocolate. But since meeting a certain hunky surf shop owner, she’s leaning toward key lime pie.

Flipflops - After running around on stage in platform heels that would make Lady Gaga jealous, Abby is all about sloppy beach comfort this summer. 

Acoustic guitar - Hal has been teaching her to play. Maybe one day, she’ll back him up while he takes center stage. I think Abby would really like that.

Meds – Yeah, Abby’s got her demons, and sometimes a little anti-depressants helps. A few days into her vacation, however, she ditches the pills in search of a more organic “cure.”

Trashy novels – Obviously, right? Celebrity or not, the beach and romance novels go hand-in-hand.
