Please give a warm welcome to romance author, Michelle Smart!
Thank you so much for having me here today to talk about my book, Tempted by Trouble, which was released on the 11th March.
One of the questions I’ve been asked the most since Tempted by Trouble’s release, is how I came up with Marco and Pippa’s characters – especially Pippa’s. For those who don’t know, Pippa is a minor member of the British Royal family and, in her teenage years, was a fully-fledged socialite.
Not long before I dreamed Pippa up, there was a lot in the media about certain female stars who were either heading for, or in the throes of, a public meltdown. Photographed by paparazzi wherever they went, they were caught falling out of cars (not always with their knickers on!), drinking to excess and generally being out-of-control.
What, I wondered, would it be like for those celebrities a few years down the line, when their excess is well behind them and they’re in an emotionally and mentally stable place? Would people take them at face value? Or would the majority only remember them for their past?
That’s what Pippa’s had to cope with. Pippa was that wildchild, the adolescent whose life was played out like a car-crash to an agog public. She’s spent five years sober, independent and doing her best to turn her life around, but the past refuses to set her free. Everyone, her family included, still see her as a wild, screwed up teenager who heaped nothing but shame on the good family name.
For his part, Marco always looked out for the motherless Pippa. A decade older than her and the nephew of her stepmother, he was the only one to see through her tough-as-nails veneer.
When we meet them, she’s been sent in disgrace (through no fault of her own) to the Caribbean to stay with him, an extended visit neither are looking forward to. The last time Marco and Pippa met was at her eighteenth birthday party, an event that had disastrous consequences for them both, killing any compassion he felt for her and for which he has no intention of forgetting, never mind forgiving…
Thank you so much for reading this post, and I really hope you enjoy reading Tempted by Trouble every bit as much as I enjoyed writing it.
A Bit about Tempted by Trouble:
As far as Marco’s concerned, wild child Pippa has ruined his life once and he’ll be damned if he lets her do it again. But it’s hard to reconcile the adolescent he knew with the mature, beautiful woman who stands before him. Soon he's questioning if everything the media is claiming about Pippa is the truth, or if he should trust his heart.Goodreads - Amazon - B&N
Socialite Pippa Rowantree has always provided excellent fodder for the UK’s gossip rags. After another unfortunate scandal sends the gossips into a feeding frenzy, her shamed family retaliates by forcing her into hiding at old family friend, Marco Capello’s lush Caribbean estate—literally the last place on earth she wants to be.
A bit about the author Michelle Smart:
Michelle's love affair with books began as a baby when, according to her mum, she would throw her teddies out of the cot and cuddle with books instead. This love of all things wordy has never left her. A voracious reader, her tastes cross all genres. Her first experience with romance was as a child devouring copious amount of fairy tales. As her reading tastes evolved, she discovered something special--a book has the capacity to make her heart beat as if falling in love the first time. When not reading or pretending to do the housework, Michelle loves nothing more than creating worlds of her own featuring handsome heroes and the sparkly, feisty women who refuse to take crap from them. She hopes her books can make her readers’ hearts beat a little faster, too.Visit Michelle Smart's website - Twitter: @chellebellwrite - Facebook Page - Goodreads

ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a really good read. I've often wondered the same thing. How would the public handle the misguided teen stars once they mature and change their ways. I can't wait to read and find out your take. Thanks for sharing!
