Interview and Giveaway with author of Ruby, Jeffe Kennedy!

Sultry night, barely a breeze to stir the curtains. Quiet house and a freshly opened bottle of wine. You know what that means, time to grab an erotica read! Don’t know which one to pick up? Then listen to our guest today, Jeffe Kennedy. Welcome Jeffe!

Jeffe: Thank you – I’m delighted to be here!

Lexi: I set the scene, but you really don’t need a perfect night to pick up one of your books...because the book will transport us into the right frame of mind. The mind melting kind. Do you ever get yourself all worked up when you are writing these hot and steamy scenes?

Jeffe: Oh, very much so! In fact, I think that’s really important. If *I* don’t find the scene mind-meltingly sexy, why would a reader?

Lexi: I know I make sure my hubby is around. Especially after reading the kitchen scene in Ruby, wow! If I could ever reenact a scene from a book I would pick this one. The delicious food you describe would just be a bonus. Reading this scene made me wonder if you had taken any culinary classes prior to?

Jeffe: I’ve never taken official culinary classes, but I do like to cook. I’ve picked up bits and pieces advice over the years. No doubt a REAL chef could find flaws in that scene. Still, my main goal there was to focus on the sensuality, the flavors and textures. One of my critique partners specifically requested that scene and she was spot-on with it!

Lexi: As good a reason as any, you must write about a chosen hobby/location and you have to go there. Right? Have you been to New Orleans before? Reading Ruby I would guess you have, you truly bring the city to life.

Jeffe: I have been to New Orleans many times and I have a deep affection for the city. My mom had a condo over by the marina for a few years, before Katrina and a bad break-up. If I can’t travel to a place, I look at pictures and extrapolate from other, similar locations. Fortunately, I have traveled pretty extensively and I try to pick places I’ve been. It’s much easier to bring it to life if I’ve experienced it.

Lexi: Your erotic BDSM series Facets of Passion is wonderful, and has great reviews. But you have a new ace up your sleeve...your new trilogy. (which I am very excited for, and bummed it is a year out) Where are you at in that process? Do you have names for each book yet?

Jeffe: Well, there will be a new Facets book for you by the end of the year! “Five Golden Rings” will be out November 17 (last I heard) in the Carina erotic holiday anthology. That one takes place over Christmas break in Cozumel, with a very naughty exploration of the Twelve Days of Christmas.

I also will have an eSerial coming out in January – Master of the Opera – that is an erotic modernization of Phantom of the Opera, taking place at the Santa Fe opera house.

But the Twelve Kingdoms trilogy that comes out starting next June, will be a bit of a wait, it’s true. My editor just contacted me Friday saying he’s contemplating The Mark of the Tala for the title of book 1, which I just love! It’s not a sure thing yet, but if we go with that, I’d love books 2 & 3 to be The Tears of the Rose and The Talon of the Hawk. Right now I’m about 13,000 words into drafting book 2.

Lexi: Exciting! And nice to hear we will have some releases between now and next June! In the mean time, we can peruse your backlist and enjoy your recent release, Ruby. Come on people, don’t you want a good hot read right about now? :) Thanks for stopping by Jeffe! Hope to see you back here soon!

Jeffe: Anytime!

Determined to keep her emotional distance, she gives Prejean everything but her name. A night becomes a week, as she spends Mardi Gras suspended…in the delicious space where pleasure meets pain.

  1. Very rarely have I tried to combine culinary skills with foreplay - it doesn't work too well when I have my 3 kids hanging out with me in the kitchen. I do, however, read about different foods which can be aphrodisiacs and have used them (when the kids were away) in a dinner or dessert when I was in the mood.

  2. Yeah, Kelsey, kids definitely put a damper on that kind of fun. Producing meals for a family of five is NOT sexy. But glad you keep your hand in for the date nights!

  3. I don't need to be put in the drawing but wanted to say that I enjoyed the interview! I will say that we have taken some items to the bedroom with us but all have been a flop and none romantic so we must be doing it wrong!

  12. While I can cook I don't really enjoy it, so probably not the best time to be adventurous.
