Now I would like to welcome author, Robbie Terman, joining us with her contemporary romance - Some Like It Spicy!
My friends tell me I'm pretty funny when I've had too much to drink (I think I'm funny when I'm sober, but apparently that's more an acquired taste). Consequently, they've become very inventive at getting me to drink. Usually, I'm a sucker for a girlie martini (the kind that tastes more like fruit than alcohol) or a great bottle of wine (no boxes, please!).
A few years ago, my friend (and awesome critique partner) Elizabeth Heiter and I were hanging out, watching movies and playing scrabble (I know - sounds like a wild night) when we decided we had a hankering for White Russians. The ingredients of a White Russian are simple - vodka, coffee liqueur, and cream. But out of the three, I only had vodka. The only other alcohol I had was Bailey's Irish Cream. Being the creative types, we improvised and combined a part each of vodka, Bailey's, and skim milk (hey, it was all I had!). The combination turned out to be bliss in a martini glass. We sat back on the couch, sipped on our drinks, and imagined we were on the beaches of Brazil. And thus the Brazilian was born! Now, whenever I need to cool down a hot summer day, or pretend I'm on the beach in the dead of winter, I mix myself a Brazilian.
In Some Like It Spicy, the chefs on the cooking reality show have a lot of down time between filming. And what better way to occupy that time than to drink! They didn't mix Brazilians, but they did have shots of tequila - lots of them! In a game of "Have You Ever..." (college kids everywhere are groaning), Ashton takes one too many shots. It's especially bad timing, as filming is just about to resume and she can barely stand. Luckily, Ty arrives on the scene to carry...er, help Ashton to the set. Next time she should try a Brazilian!
What's your favorite drink for cooling down on a hot summer day (or pretending it's hot when the temperature is dipping into single digits)?
Ashton Grey’s restaurant, Sweet Home, is in trouble. Months of empty tables have left her and her partners near bankruptcy, and her father’s prediction of her failure as a chef seems imminent. But a chance encounter could provide Ashton with the publicity she needs to save her restaurant—if the fiery chef is willing to compete on a reality cooking show. But in order to win, she needs to stay focused. No problem…until she meets the head judge.
Celebrity chef Ty Cates is ready to get away from the camera and back to the kitchen where he belongs. Performing as head judge on a reality show is just one more commitment he’d like to get out of, especially after he meets Ashton. Head judges dating contestants is about as taboo as putting ketchup on filet mignon, but from the moment they meet, there’s a simmering heat between them that neither can ignore.
As the competition heats up, they rely on sneaking around, stealing amazing night after amazing night together when the cameras aren’t rolling. When both realize what’s starting to feel like love could easily be a recipe for disaster, Ashton and Ty need to make a choice—get out of the kitchen or turn up the heat.
About Robbie
Robbie Terman began her journey as a writer in third grade, when she completed her first (24-page) "novel." Many years later, she is published in contemporary romance. Her heroines are feisty, her heroes Hot (yup, that's with a capital H!). And, when you read her books, if you cry a little and laugh a lot, that's just the reaction she was hoping for. When she's not writing, Robbie can usually be found doing one of three things: shopping for shoes and handbags at Nordstrom; trying a new restaurant (or attempting a new recipe); or relaxing on the couch and catching up on her favorite television programs (if you're wondering which ones, open up a TV Guide and take your pick. You've probably guessed right!).

Looks nice, added on my list, thanks for the review ! I'm currently drinking a big glass of cold soda water with a little orange juice and a twist of lemon + some mint leaves, very refreshing. On the alcohol level, nothing better than a cold white beer with a slice of lemon :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting me, Crystal! I'm looking forward to some new drink ideas (although I'm not sure anything can beat the Brazilian!).
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a sizzling read. I will definitely have to check it out and see what's cooking.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the post on this book. I'll be adding it to my TBRs.
