I know you are stretched out on your lawn chair, slushy drink sitting beside you has melted, and you are nearly asleep. But wake up! You don’t want to miss our guest today because she has a GREAT summer read for you! Welcome Christi Barth!
Lexi: Welcome back Christi! Care for a piña colada? The sweet coconut fits perfectly with your newest release, Love At High Tide. Colorful and summery. Think of a drink you think best represents your book…what’d you pick?
Christi: Well, I was going to say a piña colada (pouts). But I’ll make it simpler (and lower calorie) by naming my go-to summer cocktail – a gin and tonic. Easy, fast and delicious….just like my book!
Lexi: Reading Love At High Tide I could practically smell the salty ocean air and feel the cold shock of the water. Especially with the opening scene, a near drowning only to be saved by Coop (men like him should live on beaches). Did you write any of this sitting on the beach?
Christi: I scribbled notes on the beach. I did write the opening scene in a flurry of sand-covered typing when inspiration first hit at our beach house. And during last year’s vacation, I stayed up late every night on our balcony finishing it, with the sound of crashing waves in the background. Talk about perfect writing conditions!
Lexi: That should really be your excuse to camp out on a beach for months on end…working on your book! J Let’s see…your next book should take place on a nearly deserted Caribbean island. Nearly deserted because there would be a camp of sexy men doing some secret military mission, only it becomes not so secret when your heroine stumbles upon them. Ready to go find a lovely island and some firsthand experience for that?
Christi: Well, the sequel to it takes place in Atlantic City, and I did just book a ‘research trip’ there for October…..
Lexi: Of course you don’t need firsthand experience to write cute, funny stories. (though I do love your Aisle Bound series) You found a great balance with Coop and Darcy. I loved that she was level headed and a logical thinking, unlike her girlfriend who ends up getting them into trouble. Did you put some of your own brain waves into Darcy…since you are a completely logical thinker *wink wink*?
Christi: According to my husband, I am an overly logical thinker. It drives him crazy. But, yes, some characters are easier to write than others. Letting a little bit of yourself dribble into a book is impossible to prevent. I’m just glad my good bits dribble in, instead of my bad habits like procrastination and fear of elevators!
Lexi: Let me just get you a few more piña coladas and we will go find an elevator to ride! Love at High Tide is a great recipe for fun summer love, however your brain thought it up. Thanks for stopping by again, and for another fun read! Cheers Christi, ‘till next time!

Darcy Trent is lucky Cooper Hudson is on hand to sweep her off her feet—literally—when she nearly drowns while swimming in the ocean. But life-saving aside, Mr. Perfect's timing stinks: Darcy's career is about to take her to the complete opposite side of the Atlantic. Still, a little summer loving with the tall, blond and sexy former cop is far too tempting to pass up.
When his plans to enter the Secret Service went south thanks to a bum knee, Coop retreated to the family beach house to mull his future. Romance is the last thing on his mind, until he fishes a curvy brunette out of the sea. Now, spending time in Darcy's arms seems like the ideal distraction, even if it is just for a week.
But with Darcy's departure date fast approaching and their careers on the line, can they realize in time that their beach fling might become the real thing?
