What a great day! One of my all time favorite historical romance authors is back! And even better than that, she has another novel to her Lord and Lady Spy series out now: True Spies! Welcome back Shana!
Shana: Wow! That’s a sweet welcome. Thank you!
Lexi: You have been a busy woman, as always. From conference hopping to releasing books left and right, ready to sit down and have a glass of wine?
Shana: If I drink, I will pass out from exhaustion. Pass the coffee instead I keep thinking life and work will slow down, but so far it hasn’t.
Lexi: You wore some great outfits at the conferences you have been attending. What has been your favorite? Does your daughter like seeing your outfits?
Shana: No one has ever said that to me before. Thanks for the compliment. My daughter does like to see me dress up, and she wants to dress up then too. If I wear new shoes or a new dress, she wants to wear it. Since my clothes are too big for her, if I’m wearing a blue dress, she wants to wear a blue dress. She’s the kind of kid who would love to have mommy-daughter matching outfits. Me, not so much.
Lexi: Speaking of great outfits, your spy Blue sure looks good on the cover of your novella, The Spy Wore Blue (now available with major eBook retailers). What would you say if they ever asked you to pose for your own cover?
Shana: No way! I would love to see a photo shoot, but I would make a horrible model. I like to be behind-the-scenes. Plus, my heroines don’t look like me in my mind. I write to get away from my ordinary life, not to put myself in the story.
Lexi: Pose, or just sit back and read, I know I have been eagerly awaiting the next release in your Lord and Lady Spy series, True Spies. I just love when authors take a movie/show and interweave it into the plot. For book 1, Lord and Lady Spy, you loosely based it on Mr. and Mrs. Smith. Did you keep up with that theme in True Spies?
Shana: Yes, and it will be continued in the third book (Love and Let Spy) too. True Spies is based loosely on True Lies, the movie with Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jamie Lee Curtis. In Lord and Lady Spy, both characters were spies. I wanted to do a story where only one is a spy and the other has no idea and maybe isn’t too happy when the truth is discovered.
Lexi: No matter what you do I am going to love it! I can’t wait to read whatever you have coming next! Thanks for stopping by again Shana. Now, go try explain to your daughter why air is invisible.
Shana: LOL! Grace Burrowes gave me a great suggestion so I used that one when my daughter asked about air again. I can’t wait to see what I have coming too. I’m so gad school is starting because I am ready to get back to serious work!

ReplyDeleteNice to see you all about the net today, Shana!
ReplyDeleteI love the titles in the series, and I think the idea of loosely basing the books on spy movies is fantastic. I loved Lord & Lady Spy, as well as The Spy Wore Blue, and I'm really looking forward to reading True Spies.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you, Shana, I prefer to read about the heroines rather than trying to place myself in her place in the story. For me it's about entertainment. I like adventures and romance and sometimes mystery...and more romance. :-) Reading it gives me some magical time off from the dreary and mundane. I sleep better at night for having read something from a romance. And I'll bet I have a smile on my face too. :-) jdh2690@gmail.com
