Thoughts:
Holy moley - Jill Shalvis never ceases to amaze me! Her heroes are always alpha cave men with a side of adorable and her heroines are fresh, real and hysterically funny. Shalvis never disappoints me and always leaves me pining away for the next book.
Griffin. Oh how I love thee. Let me count the ways. You're practically my dream man. I'd even throw Vin Diesel aside for you if I had the chance (and that alone should attest to my love for the man). Griffin is stubborn, sexy and adorably clueless at times. He left Sunshine, Idaho because at the time, his dreams were not the same of his father's. His Dad wanted him to stay and learn how to run their size-able ranch. Griffin wanted to get out of the small town and see the world. So he left his home town behind and joined the Army. But he's a different man when he comes home. He saw the world, he saw war, and he's looked death in the face and survived. He's also a bit lost when he comes home. Questioning what he wants for his life.
Enter Kate. Kate has crushed on Griffin forever. He's the older brother of her best friend. She's figured out that she'll never be able to hold on to a man like Griffin, but that doesn't stop her from wanting to brush the cob webs off her whoo-ha and have some fun. Kate's life is nuts. Her family depends on her for almost everything since her mom passed away and she's a 4th grade teacher. All of that responsibility does not leave much time for fun. The chemistry between Griffin and Kate is explosive, and although Griffin tries to brush off Kate's advances for a fling, he soon gives in.
This book had so many laugh out loud moments. It also had those wonderful "swoon" moments mixed in with a couple of "chest tightening, yelling at the book's character that they're a dumbass" moments. Overall, one of my favorite Shalvis books yet.
He’ll help unleash the new woman in her…
Special Ops soldier Griffin Reid doesn’t exactly have happy memories of growing up in Sunshine, Idaho. He’s only come back to recover from a war injury, and while he refuses to admit he’s in a weakened state, he finds comfort in the last person he’d expect.
Kate Evans teaches fourth grade science in Sunshine, the place she’s always called home. Dreaming of graduate school and a happily-ever-after, she’s desperate to break out of the monotony of Sunshine. Luckily, a certain sexy man has just come back into her life.
To Griffin, Kate as always been his little sister’s friend, but now he’s finding her to be so much more. As both attempt to forge their paths, they must decide if their passionate connection can turn into something lasting…
