I don’t know when I lost my connection to humanity.  Could’ve been the day my mother brought me into the world with some fucked up agenda to use me as her own personal punching bag, but I know I used to feel something—at least for a while.  Somehow that feeling dissipated though, dissolved right into my bones until nothing but a blanket of numbness coated my skin.  Like steel.  Cold.  Impenetrable. 

I credit insanity and madness for seeing me to adulthood, because no other reason could possibly explain why I didn’t run the first time my mother tried to kill me.  Why I never sunk the blade into my own heart to cast my soul into the hell that’d surely be no worse than the one I’d been living, was a question I asked myself over and over.

Truth?

There might’ve been a part of me that craved it.

Give a boy water, and he’ll never go thirsty.  Deprive him of it, and he’ll find comfort in those scorching flames of hate and vengeance.

The repulsion and bitterness she fed me in well-rounded meals every day, fueled my determination to survive.  Gave me purpose.

A whole shitload of medical terms could’ve probably explained my self-prescribed misery.  Too bad my mother didn’t give a damn about my ‘well-being’ and ‘sound mind.’  No doc ever probed my skull.  Good thing too.  It’d probably land me in some shady ass mental ward, drooling out of the corner of my mouth with a bunch of zombie bastards who came clean and exposed their darkest thoughts in the name of therapy.

Fuck therapy. 

Nothing cures the anger like watching your enemies die at your blade. 

Last I checked, they don’t make a pill for that.

Somewhere inside of me is a dark and violent soul, so twisted, and buried at such unreachable depths, even I wonder if it can ever be touched again.  For now, it remains dormant …
