Thoughts:
I really liked Jen McLaughlin's Between Us. You start with a country star that has acted like a good girl to avoid press, but is now deciding to come out of her shell and go on spring break with her friends.
I really loved how each book dealt with a friend. I’ve always loved reading books that really focus on one character at a time. It's not important what order you read the books in. This is the story of Austin, local bad boy, and Mackenzie, a famous country star. They couldn't be more wrong for each other. Both have secrets and no time in their lives for love but sometimes things just happen! A fast paced, fun, sexy read I thought was incredible.
Mackenzie and her two best friends are off to the Key West for some casual fun and no-strings attached sex. Well for Mackenzie, this trip is not all about the beach and sun but also she wants to cash in her V-card. She just wants to have fun and be normal. Although she's a famous celebrity, Mackenzie is very down to earth. She is fun, kind, sweet, trusting, and generous. On her first night in Key West, she and her two best friends, Cassie and Quinn, head to a local bar in search for guys. Fully disguised with a big floppy hat and newly dyed hair, she spots a tattooed bartender. Mackenzie wants Austin and she figures he would be the perfect guy for a no-strings attached spring fling. But as Austin and Mackenzie spend more time together, they realized that they don't want this spring break to come to an end. As love blooms and their week comes to an end, they must say the hardest goodbye. Will they get their HEA?
This was a cute and enjoyable story. I would highly recommend this to anyone whether it was a summer read or just a book to curl up with under a blanket while it’s raining outside.

I’m just a girl…
I’m a famous country star who’s spent her life cultivating a good girl persona to avoid bad press, but I’ve reached my limit. I’m going away for spring break with my two best friends from college, and we’ve vowed to spend the vacation seeking out fun in the sun—along with some hot, no-strings-attached sex. The only thing I needed was the perfect guy, and then I met Austin Murphy. He might be totally wrong for me, but the tattooed bad boy is hard to resist. When I’m in his arms, everything just feels right.
And I’m just a guy…
I’m just a bartender who lives in Key West, stuck in an endless cycle of boredom. But then Mackenzie Forbes, America’s Sweetheart herself, comes up to me and looks at me with those bright green eyes…and everything changes. She acts like she’s just a normal girl and I’m just a normal guy, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. My past isn’t pretty, you know. I did what I had to do to survive, and she’d run if she learned the truth about my darkness. But with her, I’m finally realizing what it’s like to be alive. To laugh, live, and be happy.
All good things must come to an end…
