Balance: Writing My Story With My Readers in Mind
I like to think I’m a fairly balanced person. Somewhat. We all should want to be. Having too much of something is never a good thing, right? This past year my husband has been big on the idea of balance. It’s become his mantra of sorts. I even bought a necklace with a cute charm on it that says balance.
I guess I’m pretty serious about this balance thing.
When I’m writing, I always try to keep the readers in mind. What would they think if I did *blank*? Ooh, how are they going to react when *blank* happens? I don’t want to disappoint. There’s nothing worse than a bad review, a reader emailing you or leaving a comment somewhere that they didn’t like this book or that character or that one scene. The scene you loved while you wrote it and just *knew* the reader would love it.
Yeah, sometimes us authors are wrong about that stuff. Or how we interpret the scene isn’t how the reader does. That happens to all of us. When we disappoint you, we just have to hope for your forgiveness and that you’ll come back again for more…
Can I share a little secret? I didn’t expect the reaction to the end of the BILLIONAIRE BACHELORS CLUB series. I thought I wrapped up SAVOR nice and tidy-like. Um, that would be a no. Reader reaction was strong. They didn’t like the ending. What happened to Matt and Bryn? What did Ivy have, a boy or a girl? And did Gage and Marina ever get married?
I realized pretty quick that I messed up. So I went to my editor and told her, hey, I messed up. She said, yeah we did. I mentioned a novella to wrap everything up. She said, well we’ll be tight for time. Let’s ask the powers that be.
The powers that be said yes as long as we could make it happen quickly. So we did. And that’s how INTOXICATED was born.
So I wrote it for you, my dear readers. I wanted to give you the updates. Whether Ivy and Archer had a boy or a girl. Did Gage and Marina get married? And yes, let’s find out just how Matt and Bryn are doing…
I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it. I had a lot of fun, revisiting these three couples. I’m sort of glad I messed up because it enabled me to come back to them and live in their world for a little while longer.

It’s up to Archer, Gage, and Matt to make sure this day goes off without a hitch. But between brides and babies, there’s the not-so-little issue of the million-dollar bet to attend to. If only they can figure out who won … and who’s paying up. Is everyone a winner? Or will someone leave broke—and brokenhearted?
