Who loves book two in a series? You read the first one and wait eagerly for the next but do you ever wonder what it is like for the author? Our guest today can tell us, welcome Brooklyn Ann!
Lexi: Welcome back to the blog Brooklyn! I had to look back and see when Bite Me Your Grace came out and was shocked to see that a little over a year has passed! Our year has been filled with books but your historical paranormal romance has been on the radar. What have you been up to while you waited for book two, One Bite Per Night released?
First I did TONS of revisions. Due to a marketing decision, my publisher wanted me to add more characters and subplots that weren’t in the original draft. Then, of course, I wrote book 3 in the series, BITE AT FIRST SIGHT (Rafe’s Book!) and I wrote a heavy metal romance that a few publishers are interested in and published the 1st book in my urban fantasy romance series, WRENCHING FATE. So…. It’s been a busy year. ☺
Lexi: Now you have a blog tour going on for One Bite Per Night, no small feat in that either. Do you have an extensive schedule for it?
My goodness, my heart just about stopped when my publicist assigned me over 20 posts and interviews. Thankfully all you awesome bloggers gave me fantastic questions and fun topics to discuss, so it’s been delightful. I also love interacting with readers so the work is well worth it. The link to the schedule is here: http://brooklynann.blogspot.com/2014/07/one-bite-per-night-virtual-tour.html
Lexi: A book release is exciting, no matter what number it is in the series. On your blog you have a lovely picture of you standing by a large stack of your books in your local bookstore. Didn’t you just about want to pee yourself when you walked in and saw that?
I did! The sight of my books on the shelf, the knowledge that my stories are beside those of my favorite authors is a surreal feeling that will never go away. I’m sure I freaked out a couple customers at the store with my jumping down and squealing and embarrassed my poor son making him take my picture. ☺
Lexi: Pure excitement. Kind of like when us readers go into a bookstore and see that pretty cover and get to finally pick it up and hold it. Your Scandals with Bite series delivers that wonderful balance of paranormal and romance, of course with your historical take. Though with One Bite Per Night our heroine isn’t a writer, how did you connect to Lydia Price?
Connecting with Lydia was actually easier than with Angelica (The writer heroine of BITE ME, YOUR GRACE) because I was a painter before I was a writer. I did acrylics and my mom did oils. I remember every time my mom saw a gorgeous sunset or moonlit sky she’d look at me and ask, “Do your fingers itch?”
Lexi: I can’t wait to read about Lydia and Vincent. How can you resist a vampire who is the Lord of Cornwall?! Thank you for stopping by Brooklyn! Congrats on One Bite Per Night the release of and we will now be counting down to the release of book three!
Book 3 is going to be hot and intense, I’ll tell you that. And the stakes (no pun intended) are higher than I’d expected! (Villainous laugh)

ReplyDeleteBite Me Your Grace is a great book! I'm guessing One Bite Per Night is as well. :-)
ReplyDeleteBrooklyn is a new author for me. I bought Bite Me, Your Grace, a short time ago, but haven't been able to read it yet. I am wondering, after reading this excerpt if these are "good" vampires; i.e., do they go after rogue vampires to protect humans or are these just stories about vampire life (neither good nor bad)? jdh2690@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteI loved Bite Me Your Grace and can't wait for this book. Thanks for such great stories
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for having me today! And Janice, though the main characters of my vampire romances are "good" vampires since the heroes and heroines have to be good guys, there are some bad ones and rogues out there in my world.
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to reading these books. I love the covers and they sound awesome.
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed the interview. I am looking forward to reading your books!
