For years, Sean O’Dell has hidden his past as a Hollywood heartthrob from everyone at the Sweet Salvation Brewery. However, the arrival of nosey efficiency expert Natalie Sweet threatens the status quo. It doesn’t help that with her glasses, buttoned-up sweaters and always pulled-back hair that she’s uncovered one secret already: His attraction for hot librarian types.
Natalie has had enough of the strong-and-silent Sean submarining her efforts to change the brewery for the better. She’s ready to do whatever it takes to make her vision a reality, even if that means taking down the pig-headed and too-hot-for-his-own-good brewmaster.
Sizzling attraction battles stubborn determination as Natalie and Sean go head to head in a battle that’s anything but business as usual.
Linda's Thoughts:
She shivered under his touch, desire dampening her panties and making her clench her thighs together in an attempt to find some relief. His devilish hands relaxed their grip on her hips and slid around to cup her ass, pulling her close. Thick, hard evidence of his desire pressed against her belly. God, she wanted this man, and not just to silent the stressful thoughts always swirling in her head. She wanted him, not just the divine moment of oblivion that blocked out everything else.
The realization scared her and brought some unwanted reality into the room. "We shouldn't be doing this."
"Why?" He made quick work of the buttons on her petal-pink cashmere sweater and parted her cardigan. Sean gave a soft growl as he stared at her silver satin pushup bra that presented her boobs like an all-you-can-lick buffet. "Because I'm your employee?"
He licked his lips and slid his thumb across the satin covering her hard nipple.
"Yes," she said, sighing. An answer to his question or a response to even the lightest of touches? Both.
"Easy fix." He snapped the front closure of her bra and her tits tumbled out. "I quit."
Bending forward, he lifted one heavy globe and took the hard nub into his hot mouth. Fire sizzled through her veins and it felt so good she couldn't wait to burn.
"You can't quit." She reached down for the top button of his jeans and flicked it open. "We need you. I need you."
He released her nipple and she groaned in frustration. Then he found the hem of her skirt and inched it higher and the soft groan that floated out of her mouth was for a whole other reason.
"Hire me back in about an hour or, better yet, a few days."
The cool air caressed her upper thighs as he raised her skirt, but it wasn't enough to relieve the molten heat engulfing her. "I like how you think."
HOLLYWOOD ON TAP by Avery Flynn is a very enjoyable, sexy read! Even though it's the second book in the author's Sweet Salvation Brewery series with a common theme and interconnected characters, this tale could easily be enjoyed as a standalone. However, I highly recommend reading the books in order as the series is truly exceptional. This is the story of Sean O'Dell and Natalie Sweet.
Sean O'Dell was an Oscar-winning Hollywood heart throb who reminded me of James Dean except, instead of dying too soon, Sean had prematurely disappeared from the Hollywood scene leaving no trace. Sean had found sanctuary at the Sweet Salvation Brewery where Uncle Julian, the former owner of the brewery, had pseudo-adopted him. Under Julian's tutelage, Sean had advanced from a laborer to brew master. Close-mouthed Sean was fastidious with the beer making process and with equipment maintenance and was dedicated to the success of the brewery. However, methodology was not his thing - something that the new owners, especially Natalie Sweet, preeminent efficiency expert, was determined to change.
Natalie is one of the three infamous Sweet sisters who have inherited the Sweet Salvation Brewery from their uncle. The brewery was on its last legs when they took over. Now someone is sabotaging the brewery and more than just the business may be in danger.
I loved both of these characters. They were easy to relate to and likeable. They were also opposites as he was as messy as she was ordered. Sean was sexy as hell. Control-freak Natalie was a cute nerd who believed that she only needed sex, not love. Natalie keeps her sanity by being insanely organized. Would Sean be the one to tilt her world in a good way? Their romance was sweet and hot, a perfect combo to keep the reader glued to the book. Indeed, once I started this book, I couldn't put it down until I'd finished it.
Following please find a few more of my favorite quotes:
Fighting to maintain proper decorum, she tapped the papers on his desk. "This is what I want."
"No," Sean leaned forward, his knee brushing against her leg. "What do you really want?"
Only his jeans and her winter tights kept them from skin-to-skin contact, but it wasn't enough to keep her from going jittery and molten at once. Who was she kidding? A three-foot steel wall probably wouldn't be enough of her not to notice him. The man was fast becoming her kryptonite.
She should move - but she didn't.
"I don't think this is an appropriate conversation for employer and employee."
"It wouldn't be the first time were inappropriate. He winked and scooted closer. Now his legs bracketed hers, and his palms rested flat on the desk, one on either side of her hips. "Did you forget yesterday? I haven't."
"You're just trying to throw me off my game." That came out way too breathy. What was it about this man that made her lose control so easily?
Sean rose from his chair but kept his hands planted on the desk. Leaning forward, he didn't stop until his lips were millimeters from her ear. "Is it working?" he asked in a teasing growl.
---
"I can't think right now when you're touching me."
He laughed and increased the pressure, curling his fingers to rub against her G-spot. Rubbing. Twisting. Turning. "That means I'm doing it right."
---
Pride filled him. He'd put that soft look in her eye, the purr in her voice, and given her loose limbed ease.
Supporting characters are great, quirky and endearing. It was a treat catching up with Miranda and Logan from the first book, ENEMIES ON TAP. Reading this book makes me hanker again for a generous slice of Ruby Sue's famous pecan pie at the town's restaurant, The Kitchen Sink. My favorite scene was the surprising twist HEA ending which left me with a huge case of the warm fuzzies. :-)
Avery's writing is top-notch, as always, with crisp storytelling and well-defined, genuine characters. The world she has created has something for everyone: romance, humor, hot steamy sex, lots of sweet, suspense, mystery and unique family dynamics. Her hero and heroine will find their way into your heart. If you loved EMEMIES ON TAP, this is a must-read! I highly recommend HOLLYWOOD ON TAP to anyone who enjoys contemporary romances!
