After everything blew up on Christmas, Liz walked away from me, and I let her. She said she needed space and a chance to pursue her dreams. But we both knew she was running from the mess she made. Now the political campaign she used as an excuse to leave is bringing us back together and I’m proving to her what she really needs—not just the hot nights, greedy hands, and undeniable physical chemistry. What she really needs is something real. What she really needs…is me.

Crystal's Thoughts:
Something Real is the conclusion of Liz and Sam's story (Something Reckless) and a raw, sexy romance that will pull at your heartstrings!

Something Real picks up not too long after Something Reckless, which ended with a lot of heartache and feelings of betrayal. I was breathless by the end, and couldn't wait to find out what was going to happen next! At the start of our story, Liz is moping in Indianapolis with the political campaign while Sam is back in New Hope drowning in his sorrows. That campaign quickly brings them back together though and the tether of chemistry they have always shared is once again pulled taut. Unsurprising, hurt feelings and outside influences add plenty of knots to that tether, but  it's impossible for Liz and Sam to stay away from each other for long.  There is no denying that the love they share still burns strong. But will love be enough?

This was one gripping, yet frustratingly bumpy ride that I could not put down! You thought you knew Sam and Liz, but the author adds more intriguing layers onto our leading couple in Something Real. The characters love and vulnerability shimmer from the pages. The constant push and pull between them had me white-knuckling my kindle while the lack of honest communication that could have saved them so much agony destroyed me. I wanted to shout at them, "Stop! What are you doing?!". Needless to say, Lexi Ryan had no problem pulling me into the story! I even begin to question the outcome of Liz and Sam's relationship towards the end.

Riddled with oodles of delicious angst, magnetic characters, sizzling sex scenes, and biting tension, Something Real made for an all-night read that left me with a sappy smile at the end. The characters of New Hope are phenomenal, I am looking forward to Max and Nix's story next, coming this summer in Playing with Fire!
