Bestselling author, Dianne Duvall, returns with the sixth book in her exciting and addictive Immortal Guardians series - Shadows Strike!
Lexi: I have been experiencing a deep absence of fangs in my reading…so it is with perfect timing that I welcome our guest today and her recent release, Shadows Strike! Welcome back to the blog Dianne Duvall!
Dianne: Thank you, Lexi! I’m happy to be here! Let’s see if we can do something about that absence of fangs. :-)
Lexi: Vampires are not dead! Yours are infected, and crazy, but oh so fun to read about. You have been a busy author this year with all of your various books but tell us your favorite part about your vampire series.
Dianne: I would have to say the humor. I have been having such fun with these characters. I love that my Immortal Guardians consider each other family and interact as family members do, razzing and teasing each other while offering unconditional support. And I love to make other people laugh. So when readers tell me they drew odd looks because something in this or that book made them burst out laughing, it always makes my day.
Lexi: You introduced us to Ethan in Night Unbound and you have been giving Heather dreams of him for a long time. Did you always know exactly how the vampires would bring these two together?
Dianne: No. I usually don’t know whose book I will write next (though I do know where I want the series story arc to go) until I’m almost finished with my current Work In Progress. I knew Ethan’s story would be next as soon as I wrote the “Where’s the shovel?” scene in Night Unbound. But I didn’t actually know who his heroine would be or how they would be drawn together until shortly before I sat down to write their story.
Lexi: You know how to write romance, your characters sit so well together and have a real connection. You also know how to write action. Shadows Strike is full of action and a great plot that you expand to include a new villain. How is this new big baddie going to affect your series?
Dianne: This new big baddie is the most formidable enemy my Immortal Guardians have faced. Ever. No one else, in all of the millennia immortals have been fighting vampires, has ever posed so great a challenge, nor so great a threat. He struck a heavy blow to the immortals in Night Unbound. I don’t think he’s going to stop there. And, ultimately, his actions are going to result in some very big revelations regarding Seth and the origins of the advanced DNA immortals and gifted ones possess.
Lexi: Well written main characters carry a story just as a well-crafted villain brings life and tension to a story. I do love an epic bad guy! Another thing to love is the secondary characters involved in Shadows Strike. Ethan and Heather were pretty darn perfect, who gets the next story and can they top it?
Dianne: Aidan’s story is up next. I’ve been wanting to write his ever since the “lotto” scene in Night Unbound. And his scenes in Shadows Strike only made me want to write it more. I’ll let you decide if his story can top Ethan and Heather’s. ;-)
Lexi: I can’t wait to find out!! Thank you for bringing us some fangs, Dianne. Congrats on the release of Shadows Strike. Cheers to your new book and we hope to see you again soon!
Dianne: Thanks so much, Lexi!

The Immortal Guardians protect the innocent in secret. Sometimes the secret gets out…
U.S. law enforcement agent Heather Lane can read minds. But not the future. The dream of battle and blood that recurs every night must be a fluke, some obscure terror from her own mind. What its significance might be, she can’t guess: an attack from seven psychotic vampires at once, only separated from nightmare by an eighth very different immortal. A handsome, brave man fighting at her side, a man she misses when she wakes.
Then the dream comes true. Heather is flung into a war between predators and protectors of humanity, the man from her dreams beside her again. Except now that she’s awake, she isn’t sure she can trust Ethan, or the shadow organization he represents. The U.S. military doesn’t trust either of them. But against an onslaught of evil like the one that’s coming, it will take everything they have just to survive…
