Graci-ella Santana is hired to photograph and produce a calendar of the hunky firemen of Station Thirty-two. Gossip flourishes about the sexy lady behind the camera… and her hands on approach to bring out every man’s best assets! Why, the firemen are practically falling over each other to be the next one posed to her satisfaction.
Boyd Calloway’s having none of it. He’s in the midst of a bitter custody battle with his ex-wife. The last thing he needs is to provide the drug-dealing ex’s unsavory lawyer with a calendar filled with suggestive photographs that might prove Boyd an unfit example to his son.
When the Captain at the station insists Boyd participate in the shoot, passion explodes between him and Graci-ella to a degree neither is ready or equipped to handle. She can’t commit. He can’t trust. Yet, neither can walk away from the other.
Only, Boyd soon finds out that to get the evidence he needs to convict his ex and safeguard his child, he has to ask the last person he wants to for help. And Graci-ella has no choice but to come to the rescue of her one hot hero.
Linda's Thoughts:
"Man, I don't know who's breathing faster right now. Her running or you watching."
PIN-UP FIREMAN by Vonnie Davis is a mega entertaining, sexy romance! I will warn you that you should have some fire extinguishers on hand while reading it! AND I would be remiss if I did not mention the cover! Love the sexy abs and chin stubble! Mmmmm!
PIN-UP FIREMAN is the third book in the author's Wild Heat series but each of the books in this series can be easily enjoyed as standalones. I first discovered Vonnie's books through her funny and sexy Highlander's Beloved paranormal series which features hunky bear shifters and a small, but mighty, pinked-out grandma. I can attest that Vonnie's firemen in her Wild Heat series set some hugely delicious fires of their own. As proof, once I started PIN-UP FIREMAN, I couldn't put it down until I'd read the last sentence, swooning much of the way. PIN-UP FIREMAN is the story of Attorney Graci-ella Santana and Fireman Boyd Calloway.
Graci-ella practices law but she dabbles in photography on the side. Photography is actually her passion as she only became an attorney to appease her parents. Anyway, as this story begins, she visits Fire Station Thirty-two, proposing to produce a pin-up calendar of the hot fire-men and women there for charity. From the moment, Boyd sees Graci-ella, he can't take his eyes off her. However, she's off-limits to him as he's a single dad, fighting his ex for the custody of his son. Hanky panky is a big no-no per his attorney. As the sexual tension between them grows with each encounter, will Boyd be able to continue resisting Graci-ella's charms?
I really liked both the heroine and the hero. She's sweet and sassy. Boyd's most definitely an alpha, yet he's gentle beneath the rough exterior. His obvious love for his son, Matt, tugged at my heartstrings while Matt was hands-down adorable. A highlight of each book in this series is the joking and bantering between the fire fighters. It's often laugh-out-loud funny. I applaud that the fire-fighters at that station become like family through these books.
This book is also a romantic suspense of sorts as Graci-ella is thrown into multiple life-threatening situations. I was on the edge of my seat as her life hung in the balance each time. The villain was creepy and definitely needed some major brain realignment. You'll need to read this book to find out if he got what he deserved!
Following please find a few of my favorite quotes:
"Dad said you had brain surgery." He looked over her head. "Where?"
She pulled her long hair back and showed him her shaved spot and stitches.
"Did any of your brains fall out 'cause that would be cool for me to take to school for Show and Tell."
---
Her gaze feasted on his cock, which was a turn on in itself. "There's nothing tiny about you, is there?"
---
"Boyd, could you report to the kitchen please? We have an uncooperative cook here, wearing navy stilettos, who needs your attention."
Within minutes, he sauntered toward her wearing untied boots and jeans with the first two buttons undone. He was like someone had set a block of chocolate with very big nuts in front of her.
---
"Confucius say woman should never speak for man." He bit her jaw, working his way toward her mouth.
She tapped his shoulder, "What does he say about a crowd watching?"
Boyd gazed over his shoulder and then glanced back with an evil smile, Confucius say fuck 'em."
And he kissed her long and hard.
I know when I pick up one of Vonnie's books that I will be indulging in a sexy story overflowing with humor. I highly recommend PIN-UP FIREMAN to anyone who enjoys passionate, heart-melting romances with a home-town feel featuring swoon-worthy firemen!
