Who better to stop by the blog and help us celebrate than author Jessie Lane! Welcome back to Reading Between the Wines, Jessie!
Jessie: Hi Lexi and Crystal! I’ve missed you two so much! *happy hugs*
Lexi: Blogiversaries are great reasons to celebrate and we like to step out in our usual style, with books and wine! You have multiple series; Big Bad Bite series, Ex Ops Series, Regulators MC, and the Star Series. How do you celebrate when you have a new release?
Jessie: I like to take my family out to dinner as a way to thank them for putting up with me while I finished that book. I can be a bit of a witch towards the end, lol. Then I like to go home with something chocolate (like cake) and a bottle of my favorite blackberry wine. After that I spend a few days with my kiddos in my bed cuddling and watching movies.
Lexi: Blogiversary or book release are great reasons to celebrate but life in general can give simple reason to reward yourself. Of all your books what is your favorite celebration one of your characters has?
Jessie: It’s not much of a celebration, but I would say when Bobby makes it to the birth of his daughter in my novella Mission Delivery. He’d missed the birth of his first child, Seth, so I knew I had to give him that moment to treasure the way I did when my own minions were born. Not to mention that writing that birthing scene is one of my all-time favorites because it’s basically everything I wanted to do or say to my husband while I was pushing out our two minions.
Lexi: Speaking of your characters, do you know all their birthdays?
Jessie: Hell no! I can’t keep up with people’s birthdays in real life! Frankly, my kids are lucky I remember theirs. LOL.
Lexi: We won’t quiz you and make you name them all ;) but I am curious if you have ever used a character’s birthday as an excuse to have cake?
Jessie: I don’t need an excuse to have cake. If I want cake I go buy it or tell the hubs to bring it home or suffer the consequences. That’s probably why I have a lot of “ cushin’ for the pushin’ ‘! Hee.
Lexi: I can think of a day you should definitely have cake, on your next book release day! What book is up next and what’s the date?
Jessie: Sweet Recovery is up next, but I don’t have a date for it. I feel so bad having pushed it back due to medical reasons that I’ve decided it’s probably going to be a “Surprise Release”. As in, one day I’ll just tell everyone, “Surprise! It’s here!” I will say this though… you might see that surprise release sooner rather than later. After Sweet Recovery I’ll be finishing Hammer with Chelsea Camaron, which we hope to release this fall/winter. Then I’ll finish The Demon Who Loved Me, which I hope to release right after the new year.
Lexi: When it comes we will help you celebrate! Thanks for stopping by Jessie and thanks for joining in our Blogiversary! We wouldn’t be doing all of this without wonderful authors like you!
Jessie: Thank you for having me back Lexi and Crystal. This blog will always be home to me.
Secret Maneuvers
(Ex Ops #1)

Published June 14th 2014 by Whiskey Girls Publishing
Some mistakes from the past haunt us forever… unless fate steps in with a second chance.
One ‘Dear John’ letter haunted Bobby Baker’s every living moment. It was the letter he’d stupidly written to his high school sweetheart, Belle, right after he had left to join the Army. The letter in which he’d told her that he wasn’t so sure they were ready for forever yet. Before he could let her know that the letter, and his second thoughts, were nothing more than a mistake, she disappeared from the small Georgia town they had both been raised in.
Fifteen years after the letter, Belle unknowingly walked back into Bobby’s life when her job as an ATF Agent forced her to work with a group of men secretly headed by the CIA to help her track down whoever was involved in funneling black market weapons to a drug cartel in Mexico.
Bobby planned to use this mission to try to soothe Belle’s hurt feelings while proving to her that their love was meant to be forever. He would use every dirty trick he’d learned since he had joined the Army to maneuver her back into his life for the long haul. Belle was not making it easy, though, as she continued to keep him at arm’s length in the hopes that mistakes of her own would never come to light.
