Adrenaline Junkie Vacation Spots
Hey, Everyone! It’s Samantha Chase and I am super excited to be here today with all of you at Reading Between the Wines and talking about the newest book in the Montgomery Brothers series, “I’ll Be There”. This is book six in the series and we are looking at the crankiest member of the family – Zach Montgomery. He has a good reason to be that way, but he’s making life crazy for everyone around him. You see…well, I’ll let him tell you about it.
Hey, ladies! Zach Montgomery here. I don’t know about you, but I am a total adrenaline junkie. Or…at least I used to be. I’m not jumping out of planes any time in the near future but man oh man did I have some great trips doing that sort of thing and more! I have some amazing memories from each and every one of my trips but I’ll give you some highlights – you know, just in case you’re looking for your own adrenaline rush!
1. Kayaking with the Orcas of the Pacific –
If anyone would have told me you could kayak beside a whale, I would have thought they were crazy – but apparently you can! Combine the exhilaration of paddling beside these breaching, spouting, power swimming orcas, with rugged coastal scenery, magnificent west coast rain forest, and you have the ultimate coastal kayaking experience. Every year hundred of Orca whales, following the spawning Pacific salmon visit this same area, so sightings are almost guaranteed! Other amazing wildlife includes humpback whales, sea lions, seals and porpoises. It is a definite thing of beauty!
2. Bungee jump off the Verzasca Dam in Switzerland, 007 style!
Again, what man doesn’t want to be James Bond?? Jumping off the Contra Dam on the Verzasca River of southern Switzerland – like 007 did in Goldeneye – was just enough of a thrill to make me feel like a secret agent. Even for just a little while!
3. Coasteering –
I wasn’t sure what exactly this was, but it didn’t take long for me to want to do it! Jumping off cliffs into the sea, dodging seals and scrambling around rock faces – there are few sports more thrilling that coasteering. And there's nowhere better to try it than Wales's only coastal national park in Pembrokeshire, thanks to its abundance of caves, cliffs and crags.
4. Hot Air Balloon –
Yeah, it’s very tame by my standards but you just simply cannot beat the view! Guanajuato is an excellent outdoor destination with pleasant year round weather and beautiful landscapes. You can explore the mountainous terrain and vast natural areas of Guanajuato; including the nature reserve at Las Palomas, Sierra de Lobos and the ecological zone at Valle de Santiago. After the flight you can camp, fish and have an entire land-only adventure.
5. Insanity ride, Las Vegas.
Going to Vegas and gambling is always exciting, but you throw in this ride - Hovering 270 meters above ground and 20 meters over the edge of Las Vegas' Stratosphere Tower, these spinning mechanical arms will get my heart pounding probably even before I’m in the seat!
