Dan Sharpe’s Top 5 New Year’s Resolutions
When Dan Sharpe is left without a team, his NHL career is put on hold. So, Dan does what any enterprising romance hero would do, he decides to fix up his grandparents’ deserted ranch in Montana. Life in Montana and on a ranch is sure different than the life he’s always led, but he’s a goal oriented guy, and with these five resolutions he may just survive his first few months in Montana.
1. Stay in shape.
Dan has something in common with a lot of us, one of his main goals is to stay in shape, so that if he gets a chance to get back on the ice, he’s ready. That means no double cheeseburgers at Blue Valley’s diner, Georgia’s. Okay, maybe one. But he’ll work it off by getting his dilapidated old ranch all fixed up. And he won’t succumb to a Big Mac this year, no way. He’s all about keeping that six-pack perfectly toned.
Just let him finish that cheeseburger… (Don’t worry, he still totally has a six pack.)
2. Figure out the secret to llama care.
Through determined study, trial and error with his very own mystery llama, and dogged determination, Dan’s resolved to learn all about how to care after a llama herd. He might not know anything about the animals, and yes maybe one time he tried to feed an angry llama lunch meat ham, but he’s a man who knows how to learn from his mistakes. Which is why his life has gone from skating with a stick and puck for thousands of people to evenings doing laundry and reading about llamas.
3. Figure out the secret to stubborn, tough-as-nails ranching consultants.
Women have never been much of a problem for Dan, which is why he can’t figure out what’s so different about his surly, closed off, refuses-to-laugh-at-his-hilarious-jokes ranching consultant. But that will change this year. Dan is certain of it. He’s not quite certain what it will take yet—an offer to help, an insistence on helping, maybe a box of condoms? Well, whatever it is, he’ll figure it out—much like with the llamas—through determined study, trial and error, and dogged determination. He’s just got to outlast the dogged determination of said stubborn, tough-as-nails ranching consultant.
Now, who has some insight into stubborn, tough-as-nails, ranching consultants? Anybody? Dan hopes you’ll enlighten him.
4. Stop running when things get hard.
Dan’s made a few life choices based on the fact he thinks he can’t hack the hard stuff, but he’s ready to change that. From making a commitment to a ranch, a llama, and possibly even an unwilling woman, he’s determined to break that cycle of skating away the minute things get hard or emotional. It won’t be easy, but he’s a tough guy. All that dogged determination and trial by error crap agin. Not that it’s crap. No, Dan thinks it’s great. Just awesome.
Now, where’s that Big Mac?
5. Write out Dan Sharpe’s Rules to Having Sex.
We all know rule number one is her first, but what about the rest of them? Dan isn’t quite sure what they are, but since he claims to have written a whole book of them, he should probably figure it out before Mel asks for the rest of them.
And there you have it, the New Years’ Resolutions of a former hockey star turned llama rancer/cowboy. Learn more about how Dan fairs (and those sex rules) in REBEL COWBOY.
