Debbie Renaud is a police diver working on criminal cases with SEAL Allan Rappaport. She admires him greatly for his missions in the Navy, plus he's just plain HOT. Allan seems to share her attraction, but what she doesn't know is that her partner is wolf shifter.
Allan is really hung up on his smart, beautiful dive partner, but he can't get involved with a human outside dive duty. Yet when she gets between a werewolf hunter and his intended victim, one of the members of Allan's pack, they run into real trouble, and their lives are altered forever.
Linda's Thoughts:
"She turned off all the lights in the duplex and peered out the windows, moving from one room to the next to see if she could catch sight of the a black sedan. Security lights and streetlights in her complex cast a strange orange glow on the misty snow. It looked like the perfect night for a murder.
A SEAL WOLF IN TOO DEEP by Terry Spear touts a rich storyline and spine-tingling suspense that will have its readers turning the pages until the very end. With a romantic relationship that supposedly can't work, it still flaunts some ooh la la steamy scenes that had me gasping and most assuredly holding my breath. This is the story of wolf shifter Allan Rappaport and human Debbie Renaud.
I really liked both the hero and the heroine. Allan, our hero, is a former Navy Seal and now serves as a police diver in northern Montana where the wolf pack calls home. Allan has figured in previous installments in this series. He's an alpha wolf-shifter, can be counted on to remain calm and clear-thinking under pressure, and is just an all-around really nice guy. I'm really glad that he finally merited his own story.
Debbie, our heroine, has been assigned as Allan's new dive partner since Paul Cunningham, Allan's long-time dive partner, good friend and pack leader, has been laid up with a broken leg. Debbie is obviously attracted to Allan and that has his pack-mates worried. As Paul's mate, Lori, puts it "He's a SEAL, and women just fall over themselves when they learn that." Since Allan is a lupus garou, his mate needs to be one of their kind or the relationship would be a genuine hornet's nest for the pack. Even so, Debbie and Allan have some strong chemistry and Allan struggles to resist it confounding Debbie. Is their relationship doomed to be ill-fated?
The pack has been thrown into a tail spin by the discovery of a naked woman killed in a trap in the pack's territory. The murdered woman was a lupus garou. The pack is put on alert as they struggle to identify her and find her killer before anyone else is targeted or the pack's existence is revealed.
I really enjoyed catching up with previous favorite characters, including Paul and Lori, Paul's sister, Rose, and Dr. Christine Holt, the pack's doctor. Even though there are interconnected characters and a common setting, all of the books in Terry's Heart of the Wolf series work well as standalones with the romantic relationships and the development of the danger plots fully contained within each novel.
I would be remiss if I didn't mention one supporting character in this book that I hope to see more of in future books. I didn't like the human, Rowdy, at first as he tried to put the move on Debbie and openly espoused his theory that a wolf pack was active and thriving in the area, but he grew on me. Dare I hope that Rowdy will get his own story told down the road?
Following please find a few of my favorite quotes from this read:
He chuckled. She turned to see what was funny and nearly had a heart attack.
He was holding one hot-pink-and-white mug while reading it, the other sitting on the counter: 'Men should be like my curtains, easy to pull and well hung.'
---
He groaned a little and pulled his mouth free, pressing it against her forehead, then her cheeks.
"I was going to start a fire ---"
He smiled down at her. "You did."
---
"I need me some wolf loving."
Terry is one of my favorite authors. I know that when I pick up one of her books, that I'm in for a passionate, action-packed read. SEAL WOLF IN TOO DEEP combines a solid plot and good pacing that builds up into lots of danger and excitement. I would highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys sexy paranormal romantic suspense.
