Wolf shifters come to Chateau seeking a missing pack member. During an altercation, Cameron Stevens, the manager of the art colony, is separated from the others. He ends up alone with Nadya, one of the female shifters.

Together, in the forests of DeRoche Island, they struggle against conflicting feelings. In addition to battling each other as well as their mistrust, they fight a powerful, inexplicable attraction to one another—one that leaves them irrevocably entwined.

They're mates? Cameron can’t comprehend or accept such a thing is possible. They’re two different species and their worlds don’t mesh. He can't fight the heated desire burning between them and her touch is impossible to resist. His heart and mind aren't on the same page where she's concerned. One thing is certain—Nadya is stamped on both.

Linda's Thoughts:
The truth echoed in her head. On the same day she met him, he had tried to kill her.
Her mate.

Dark Stranger by Lisa Carlisle is the third titillating installment in the author’s captivating Chateau Seductions series. While I would highly encourage readers to enjoy this series in order, Dark Stranger could be savored as a stand-alone read, if that is your preference.

Dark Stranger chronicles the hard choices faced by Cameron, the daytime manager of the artists’ colony, and by Nadya, a female shifter and healer. Cameron, a human, considers the colony’s founder to be his good friend, and, up to now, his allegiance has always been to the vampire, Antoine Chevalier, who built the Les Beaux Arts on DeRoche Island. Nadya is a wolf shifter and owes allegiance to her pack. But, she cannot deny her attraction to Cameron.

As the story opens, Nadya and some of her pack mates from a neighboring island have come to the Chateau searching for one of their own who is unaccounted for. In the previous installment, Cameron did what we had to do when the missing shifter without cause savagely attacked innocents weeks ago. Now, Cameron and the other residents of the Chateau must defend the students from the danger posed by the wolves. To that end, he attempts to kill Nadya when she appears to be a threat even though he is her mate.

I liked both primary characters. The chemistry between Cameron and Nadya is off-the chart HOT HOT HOT. Cameron has always seemed quiet and geeky. Now readers are treated to his back story and to see a completely different side of him. He and Nadya make a gallant effort to fight the pull between them. After all, they tell themselves that they can’t be mates since they are two different species, or can they? Their story is action-packed, well-paced and humorous. Their romance positively sizzles with sweet and heat.

Following please find a few of my favorite quotes from Dark Stranger:

“Your life is very different from mine. For one, you can transform into a wolf.”
“I can,” she agreed. “And you live with a vampire and gargoyle. That’s not the typical human way, is it?”
---

She took a deep breath and peered up from under her long, dark lashes.
He sucked air in. Damn, that look could undo any man – or wolf, or alien for that matter. “Something to eat?”
“No, Cameron.” She smiled with a hint of decadence. “There’s only one thing I need.”
“What’s that?”
She closed the space between them and grabbed the collar of his shirt with both hands, pulling him closer. “You.”
---

Cameron’s mind registered what the rest of him already knew. He was insane about this woman, and he’d do anything to be with her, anything to protect her. She’d become his world. How it had happened, he didn’t know, but it had.

You should know that this entire series contains graphic sex and language. It is definitely not for young readers. That said, not only did I love this book, I have loved the entire series which, without exception, is teeming with depth and spice. Each has kept me utterly riveted from the first sentence to the last. I would recommend Dark Stranger to anyone who enjoys well-orchestrated erotic paranormal romance!
