You down with OTP? Yeah, you know me!
Anyone who grew up in the 90’s will recognize that line as a Naughty By Nature rap song, except it was technically called O.P.P., of which the definition is an entirely different topic that we won’t get into right now.
This post is about OTPs, or for the pop-culture impaired, One True Pairing. It’s the fictional couple—or people, if they’re not yet a couple—you most want/love to be together in any given show. The act of wanting them to be together is called shipping, which derives from the word relationship. For example, I ship Oliver Queen and Felicity Smoak from the CW Network television show, Arrow. From the very beginning, I wanted Oliver and Felicity to get together and be a couple, so I shipped them. Got it? And because I love them the most of any couples (or possible couples) on that show, they are my OTP. And just to add more confusion to the made-up-words mess, when you ship a couple, you combine their names into one. So my OTP’s name is Olicity. Isn’t that adorable?
Anyway, I absolutely love Olicity. He’s strong and moral and loyal and she’s awkward and quirky and smart. They’re absolutely amazing together, and they had probably the most perfect first kiss I’ve ever seen in a TV show or movie. I couldn’t find GIF long enough to show the whole thing, so I found several that pieces it together for you.

Incidentally, that first kiss pretty much sums up their entire relationship on the show throughout all of the seasons so far. It’s so frustrating when the writers of a show mess with your OTP, but I don’t want to talk about it because the whole thing makes me super stabby. If there’s a God, they’ll fix what they broke before they have mutiny on their hands from the entire fandom.
The heroine in my upcoming release, Ruthless, is Addison Paige. She’s a self-proclaimed honey badger, tough and willing to fight for what she believes in and what she wants—including one man in particular, Roman “Ruthless” Reeves. If she had a favorite OTP, I think it would be Ragnar and Lagertha from the show Vikings.

There are so many similarities to be drawn between the two couples. They’re playful with each other, even when arguing, and their banter is witty and fun thanks to Addison’s snark.

Addison is every bit as strong and confident as Roman and isn’t afraid to let him know it or push back on him when he needs the reminder. They leave the shields and swords out of it, thankfully.

They love as fierce as they fight, which reminds me of something Addie says when describing what things are like between her and Roman between the sheets:
“Sex for us is like a contact sport—fast-paced and sweaty, with numerous positions. But we also play dirty and often have the bruises, bite marks, and scratches to prove it. It’s a delicious dichotomy of romantic roughness. Furious love.”
Speaking of which, both the Viking couple and Roman and Addison know how to spice things up in the bedroom (*cough* third person *cough*).

All in all, Ragnar and Lagertha are a pretty perfect couple, and they’re one that Addison would totally ship for her OTP.

So now it’s your turn. Who are the couples you ship? Who’s your “end game,” your OTP? Share with the class!

People call me Ruthless for a reason.
Whether I’m in the court room or in the bedroom, my reputation is well-earned. I’m either working hard, working out, or working my way into some woman's panties. But none of them share my particular kink, and I walk away feeling unsatisfied.
Until I met her.
She’s a friend of a friend, which makes her off-limits in my book. But then temptation had me by the balls and I had her up against a wall. She literally fucked my world off its axis, but it can’t happen again.
My plan was avoidance, but that got blown to shit when my firm hired her as a new junior attorney. Now I’m her boss, and I’m supposed to act like I don’t want to bend her over my desk every five minutes.
But I’ve never held myself back with anything before, so consequences be damned, it’s time to show her how damn good it feels...to be ruthless.
