FUN FACTS ABOUT THREE RIVERS RUN DEEP
I am absolutely loving penning the Fire Devil Series. I truly believe that smokejumpers have one of the most dangerous jobs in the world, but as you can imagine, they are full of passion. Very few people truly know what job a smokejumper performs. They go into the most dangerous situations, sometimes parachuting in to fight fires using axes, shovels and chainsaws. They don’t use water at all. I was asked to give you a few little fun facts about the book as well as the series.
Fact 1: The story was originally a stand alone m/m story written years ago.
Fact 2: The setting, Missoula, Montana, was based on a visit my husband made to the beautiful city for work over ten years ago. After he described the setting and showed me pictures, I knew I’d write a series set in Missoula one day.
Fact 3: I’ve been interested in firefighters and smokejumpers for years, researching and reading everything I could to make the writing factual.
Fact 4: I’ve seen Backdraft at least ten times, writing down notes etc.
Fact 5: I had the end of the series in my head long before I wrote the first paragraph.
Fact 6: My husband suggested the idea for the two free prequels – a day in the life of the heroes long before they became smokejumpers. The importance of the day plays a significant role for the ending. You’ll have to read to find out!
Fact 7: I found out after Three Rivers was written that there was going to be a smokejumper movie. I went to see Only the Brave on its opening day then rushed back, asking my editor to double check some details. Yes! I’d gotten them right.
Fact 8: I wrote the ending, ten thousand words, in about one sitting and three hours and I cried half the time. Hint – keep a box of tissues handy!
Fact 9: I wrote every word of Three Rivers Run Deep to Disturbed playing on Alexa. The music kept me pumped.
Fact 10: Stoker, my hero in book one has a dog named MacGyver and he is based on my beautiful Golden Retriever of the same name.
I hope you enjoy the book, as well as the series and don’t forget, the first prequel is out, Standing at the River’s Edge and FREE. The second book, When the Mountains Weep will be released on December 1st.
