From USA Today bestselling author Katie Reus comes the next story in the explosive Redemption Harbor series where sparks fly and so do bullets…
The one woman he wants…
When a childhood friend needs help, Nova doesn’t hesitate. They endured the foster system together, forging a bond Nova can’t ignore. Relying on her friends from Redemption Harbor Consulting—including Gage, the computer genius she’s falling for—is out of the question. She used to work for the CIA and she’s trained—she can handle this. Besides, the whole team is working on their own important jobs. She’s not going to drag anyone away when she’s not sure it’s necessary.
Is the one he can’t have…
When Nova asks for time off out of the blue—and use of the company jet—former Marine Gage takes note. Of course, he notices everything about Nova. But as one of her bosses, his growing attraction to her is a line he won’t cross. However, that doesn’t mean he’ll let her run straight into danger—and a quick hack of her computer proves she’s gotten in over her head. Gage is coming along for the ride, whether the sassy assistant likes it or not. He’ll do whatever’s necessary to save her friend…and keep Nova out of the clutches of a lethal enemy who won’t hesitate to kill anyone who gets in their way.

“There’s no way she’s involved with anything this Kingston guy is involved with. That much I can tell you,” Nova said.
“I believe you,” Gage said quietly.
Even if he didn’t, she was glad he’d said it. “The text from her, coming out of the blue like this, it scares me. And now combined with what I found, and with what you told me about her fiancé, I’m worried maybe that’s the reason she’s scared. Because I honestly can’t see Layla putting up with abuse. But…that kind of thing just sneaks up on you.” She knew that, not from personal experience herself but from watching her mom fall into the same trap over and over with abusive men. They’d be nice and charming at first, then convince her mom that she deserved what they doled out. Once her mom got clean, however, at least she’d found a good man.
Gage frowned at that. “I’ll run all her information, her financials, anything I can. I’m going to invade her privacy.”
“I figured you would have to.” Nova might not like it, but she understood the necessity. “I pulled the schematics for the spa we’re meeting at. If she needs to escape, I’ve already looked at different exits and I’ve been thinking about various escape routes. I haven’t had time to come up with anything solid, and without talking to her in person it’s impossible to know who will be with her or what kind of threat she’s facing. But I’m trying to be proactive. There are a lot of ways two women could sneak out of a spa. Easily.”
Gage looked slightly impressed. “It goes without saying that I’ll hack into their security, and if she does need to escape him, and I’m thinking she does no matter what, we can work as a team to get her out.”
Nova was silent for a long moment. “Thank you for coming with me.” She hadn’t thought she wanted backup but it made her feel more secure that Gage was with her. For more than one reason.
“So I’m not a dumbass anymore?”
She snorted slightly as she stretched her legs out. “I wouldn’t go that far.”
His lips kicked up, and once again she felt the effect of it straight to her core. This man was going to kill her with his raw sexuality. Since they had a couple hours to go, she slipped off her shoes and pulled out her own laptop. “Can you send me what you’ve got so far? I want to read up on this douchebag.”
“I’ve already sent you a bunch of files.”
She smiled softly at him, not surprised at his efficiency. “Thank you.”
He sort of grunted and turned back to his own laptop.
She tried not to stare at him, at the way his jaw ticced slightly as he focused on whatever he was reading. But it was hard not to admire his strong profile. He was built like a runner, even if he was into martial arts. He had that whole long, lean, muscular thing going on, and she very much liked it. She liked everything about him. He’d recently gotten a haircut so his dark hair was cropped close to his head. She wished he’d left it longer, but for selfish reasons. She loved the way it used to fall over his forehead so that he’d get frustrated and shove it back—and flex those ridiculous arm muscles.
At that thought, she turned away, or she’d end up staring at him and getting nothing done.
