A sexy, small town, second chance rom com!
Thanks to a drawn-up-while-drinking-moonshine partnership agreement, Madison Allain has to spend thirty days back on the bayou before she can sell her part of the family business.
And if the heat and humidity and freaking alligators of Louisiana aren’t enough to agitate the cool and in-control California girl, then Owen Landry, the equally hot guy who stole her heart twelve years ago, will sure do the trick.
Owen just has to remember three simple-ish rules: Do not fight with her. Do not fight *over* her. Do *not* kiss her. He can do this. He’s charming and friendly for a living after all. But this is Maddie. The only woman to ever shake up this laid-back bayou boy.
Besides, she’s not staying. No way. These people and this town make her crazy. She doesn’t want to be crazy. She definitely does *not* want to own a swamp boat tour company. She just wants to paint. In her quiet, beautiful, alligators-not-allowed, *air-conditioned* art studio.
As for that hot bayou boy? Well, he’s… amazing. But he belongs here in the South. And she definitely doesn’t. Even if her heart stays behind when she leaves.
Linda's Thoughts:
There was something about Madison Allain that had always made him want to fight dragons for her.
Sweet Home Louisiana is a delicious second-chance-at-love set in a swampy area of Louisiana where gators gather - a hop, skip and jump from New Orleans. It’s the second installment in Erin Nicholas’ fabulous Boys of the Bayou series which ranks as one of my top two contemporary romance series this year so far. Do not fret if you have not yet read the first book in this collection as Sweet Home Louisiana works perfectly well as a stand alone. That said, I honestly didn’t believe Erin Nicholas could top My Best Friend’s Mardi-Gras Wedding, but she sure has pulled it off and, IF you haven’t read it, you’re going to want to go back and catch the fun!
This is the story of Owen Landry and Madison “Maddie” Allain. Owen and Maddie had a crazy, passionate, impulsive fling back in high school. Their relationship ended abruptly when Maddie left, moving to California when she was sweet sixteen. Maddie claims to have no regrets about leaving her Autre hometown, professing to be content with her cool and collected life in California. Since her brother died, she receives a check each month as an absent part-owner in the Boys of the Bayou Swamp Boat Tour Company which she says unhappily reminds her of her previous often-crazy life in Autre. She is determined to put anything to do with Autre behind her because she doesn’t want to think of Autre… ever. To do that, she must spend thirty days working in the company before she can sell her share. So, as this story opens, here she is - forced to return to Autre twelve years later. She’s not a teenager anymore and will have to come face-to-face with everything and everyone she left behind - most especially Owen Landry who has never gotten over Maddie.
Owen is caring, protective and pure sex-on-a-stick. He will do anything for the woman he loves – including sending her back to California so she can be happy. Even if that means that the family-owned Boys of the Bayou Swamp Boat Tour Company will have to take in an outside investor. The chemistry between these two is set-your-sheets-on-fire intense. I teared up reading their story more than once as Maddie re-lived old memories and rekindled her romance with Owen.
Following please find a few of my favorite sweet and sexy lines from Sweet Home Louisiana:
“What can I do?”
She took a deep breath and said, “Just hold still.” She put her hand behind his head, leaned in, and kissed him.
Owen gave a low groan and said against her mouth, “Not sure I can do the hold-still thing, Mad.”
---
“Tell me what you want,” he said firmly.
“You.”
---
She was being turned on by watching Owen talk about alligators. She was in so much trouble.
Sweet Home Louisiana is an irresistible addition to Erin’s Boys of the Bayou series. It’s hilariously funny, swoony hot, passionately yummy and not-put-downable! I’m soooo in love with the sexy, boisterous Landry clan and cannot wait to read Sawyer’s and Juliet’s story next month in Beauty and the Beast!
